I extracted map to memory card ran fastactive.exe, did not install?

no error messages everything seemed to go alright with fastactive then it started up with old maps

Assuming you now have the old map on the device and added a new map,
I assume further that all went ok,
so I have to assume you did not try to switch the map in the menu?
Otherwise be more specific with your problem.

At each stage of using fastactivate it shows patched and then successfully patched, going into menu only the old map is shown

1. What map? What version of FastActivate? Did you confirm that the map was actually patched?
2. What navcore? Is the navcore patched?
3. Did you confirm that the navcore & map are compatible? Did you look in Main Menu, Change preferences, Switch maps?

I have used a clean install using FastActivate_04.04.2013 & map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_905_4800 instead of map _905_4754,installed fine
