Go 300 location thinks i'm miles away from where I really am

Postby Hotpants » Fri Aug 05, 2011 4:11 pm

Hi all; I've just updated a mate's Go 300 with the SE navcore 8.412.1336, and added the UK 870.3406 maps.

I've ran Tomtom home and updated mapshare etc.

Problem is, when I turn the unit on, it thinks i'm about 20 miles away from where I actually live. Even if I set it to navigate to a destination, it still thinks the starting point is the wrong map location.

Is there any way to update the satellite list?

Any thoughts on how to correct this?

Cheers

Hi, I have already replied to this thread, but nothing is showing up, so rather than run the risk of appearing to be rude and ungrateful for the excellent help, I am resubmitting.
I copied 3 files from an old ephem backup on a different unit, and copied them into the Go300. As soon as the unit booted up, it found 8 satellites (I believe 4 is the minimum to get a good signal lock).

Tomtome home still does not show up quickfix, maybe because the Go300 uses a Sirfstar ll chipset and not a Sirfstar lll?

Thanks for the help as ever.

1. Over the weekend, Navitotal switched to a new server. There was a small hiccup & some posts were lost. Yours might have been 1 of them.
2. Good call. I apologize for not catching that.
