Xtrons D710G problems with IGO Primo 1.2

Postby brian colston » Tue Apr 26, 2011 12:53 pm

Hope someone can help.

I have an Xtrons D710G 800x480 that runs Wince5 and not sure how much memory this unit has. Igo Primo 1.2 and loads fine. It calculates if i go to an address but as soon as i click on the map i get out of memory errors and it closes. I dont have any DC, dem, poi's or even speed cameras loaded as i deleted the files. Voice is just got 2 in there and Europe maps. I have messed about with the memory settings and cache in sys.txt but after 3 days now i am asking for help

Has anyone got it working on the XTRONS Primo 1.2 or any other verion. If so could you share there sys.txt file and the IGO software version

Thanks

Brian

First of all, welcome Brian. We're here to help if we can. Also, we have the most knowledgeable members so expect some answers. You've done the most important thing when it comes to memory errors and that is to reduce your content. Plus you tried to increase your memory cache in the sys.txt. So now my question is this. Did you ever have another successful nav on your device?

BTW, you have 64MB RAM.

chas521,

Thanks for the warm welcome and nice to be here

I just tried and removed the sys.txt, save folder, and same as first post

The unit comes with sygic drive 10 and works fine. its just i find the software and maps rubbish. I have always used TOMTOM or IGO and would like to get IGO working on my system if possible.

Thanks again

It's obvious that you have a good working knowledge of your GPS since you installed Primo 1.2. I think you got a bad download or something like that. I uploaded this yesterday and it works 110%. You might want to give it a try instead.

First of all again, Brian, you're not a pain so don't even go there! Yes to using the sys.txt in the download. How did you install the 1.1?

FatboyFun,
thanks for your help, but no help as been throught most of this site about out of memory errors

chas521,

Thanks :)

I downloaded from the link you gave me and formated my SD card so nice and clean.

1) Extracted files to SD card (so had one folder called Primo and all the files under that)
2) copied my new 1.1 data.zip that supported my 800x480 as the one that come with it did not support my screen size )
3) copied 4 maps to \Primo\content\map
Ireland_83_TA_2010.12_110210.fbl
Ireland_83_TA_2010.12_110210_(TI).ftr
United_Kingdom_83_TA_2010.12_110210.fbl
United_Kingdom_83_TA_2010.12_110210_(TI).ftr

put SD in car and went throught the setup fine. all worked ok and fast at this point. clicked on map and then got out of memory error as i was getting in my first post

Dont think i will ever get this thing working

Thanks again

Brian

Yes you will get an iGO nav to work. Here's my iGO 8.3 http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?1837-Working-iGO-8.3-from-my-device My C320 has 64MB RAM also so I know it works!

I shouldn't have to say this but I hope that you backed everything up before editing!!! I saw on your device that you press a GPS button to start your nav [Sygic]. What about if you could change the path to iGO instead of Sygic or did you do this already?

Just had another thought Brian. I just hope that it doesn't die of loneliness. HEY!! I can make a joke about me. I'm not sure that it's hurting but it might be causing a map memory problem. In content\map ONLY put in the .fbl files and not anything else. Just to see what happens.
Also delete the save folder. Also, make sure that you change the resolution in the sys.txt.

EDIT: Read this to see how good my Primo 1.1 is http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?5498-iGO-Primo-1.2-speedcams-not-working-%28

May I suggest a change in sys.txt:

[debug]
cache=2048
skip_eula=1
reserve_memory=1500000

By adding "reserve_memory" is set to 1,5 MB, iGO leaves 1,5 MB available memory unused.
Without this setting, iGO will leave 4 MB. This causes a "memory full" message.
You could set it to 2MB as well, or possibly 2.5MB.
The "cache" set to 2048 will leave a bit more memory for iGO itself for calculations.

Hope this helps.
