Who makes the TomTom maps for IGO Primo

Postby bondy99 » Wed Jun 07, 2023 4:39 am

My apologies if this is in the wrong section.
I have been searching the net for IGO version of TomTom Australia and New Zealand , should be 2023 Q1 possibly but cant see such a map using google search engine.

I believe Sensis might have had these but no longer since they are no longer involved in GPS mapping.

Tomtom make Tomtom maps. NNG convert them to iGO format. If you want Tomtom (or any) maps for iGO they must come from NNG.
The last issue of Sensis (WhereIs) maps for iGO was Q1 2015. Sensis still appear to be in business but I can't find any reference to maps on their website. The 1st issue of Tomtom maps was Q2 2015 so for some reasonNNG changed provider. There was a simultaneous reduction in accuracy and completeness of the maps. Among other things, maps from Sensis showed details of driveable off-road tracks and industrial areas, which are now just grey blobs on Tomtom.

Ok,

That explains why. I went to NavieExtras site , all they had was HERE Maps. I had a very old GPS device with expired subscription from ALDI (years ago).

NNG, hmmm I'm wondering whether those other providers rely upon Google Mapping then convert them for their own use. I've only seen two GPS mapping vehicles in Queensland during my travels, One was Google, the other was TomTom, rare sight but did see their roof mounted cameras.

Hi
iGO works with HERE maps and TomTom maps, like TomTom used to do.
Some years ago "HERE" was called "NAVTEQ" and TomTom maps was called "TELEATLAS".
TomTom bought "TELEATLAS" and now they use only their maps, but iGo continues using both, I think.
Regards.

Yes, IGO does work with both maps. TELEATLAS, that rings a bell, thanks for jogging my memory

I have the latest HERE maps for IGO Primo. I have the latest TomTom map for dedicated TomTom GPS device I don't think I could incorporate that map to use in IGO Primo GPS device,
