When the beep is before each spoken warning, not only speedcams, add in sys.txt:
[sound]
ding=0
Anyway, this line don't hurt ;)

I will add this line and see how it goes. If I disable 'at approach won't the voice be disabled as well? what I would like is just the voice to tell me I am approaching a speed camera and no continuous annoying beeping on the approach, is this possible?

Now you have the sound directory and ding=0 twice in your sys.txt. Previous one posted was incomplete. Delete the last lines.

To answer the question, 'at approach' and 'at speeding' are the rules for the warning alert sound, not the warning voice. So 'approach' disabled and 'speeding' enabled will only produce a sound when speeding while a (registered) speedcam comes up.

Ok, now I understand. I have deleted the lines and disabled on approach and will now go and test it.

One last question: Is the ultra voice supposed to warn you of a speed camera on approach and if so how far away from the camera until it comes on ?

If I could add my two cents again? Igo 8.3 has ONLY the beeps and noises programmed in. It's only Amigo with Freddysam's skin and Primo [but I can't get Primo to work properly] that have voice when approaching.

Ok, now we are gettting somewhere thanks for clearing that up. I have been for a little drive around and at the moment if I drive up to and passed a speed camera I am not getting any voice, however, when I pulled in to tescos I received 'red light camera' voice lol even though there was no camera around me. Do I have to edit my sys.txt? I see many people have long lines of text in their sys.txt regarding speedcams.

Check the voice warning settings (menu >settings>warning>voice warning) to know at what distance the voice warns. I think it is 500 meters but could be wrong.

In sys.txt there is a possible line (I don't have it in mine), only I don't know if it overrides the skin.

[warning]
warn_distances=60:500,40:300 ; speed 60, warn at 500

You can add any speed and distance before the semicolon.

On my advice, Marcy99 added Gj skin to a complete working iGO8, so she is getting voice warning now and excellent routing as well.

IGO8 (no skin) = no speedcam voice warning
IGO8 + (gurjon or diMKa) skin = speedcam voice warning
Primo + TTS = speedcam voice warning
Primo (no TTS) = no speedcam voice warning
Amigo + Freddysam skin = speedcam voice warning
Amigo (no skin) = no speedcam voice warning

Not getting any voice but did you see a visual warning?
Possible the speedcam is not in the list, so no visual and no voice warning.

If you are sure the speedcam should be listed, it could be a flaw in 90500. On some occasions this happens. Upgrading to a newer iGO (easy, replacing the exe file) solves this.

Don't worry about sys.txt. Keep it simple, mine is too.

I am going to but I have run out of SD cards at the moment, I am going to have a tinker around and see if I can use a different sound on approach. (instead of the annoying beeping lol) I am thinking if I change the name of the sound I want to the one that it is programmed in as the beep, then I could be on a winner. Will def check out amigo, sounds great.

Just want to let you know that it's a very simple procedure to change the US voice in Amigo to the UK voice.

I have ordered a couple of sd cards and will test out amigo next week chas. In the meantime I wanted to run something past you. I have just drive back from work and I turned off 'on approach' therefore no annoying beep. The only thing I have set up to tell me of the speedcams is the Igo ultra voice. I know I have put the correct voice files in the correct order because I can press test and it all works. However, when I am driving the igo ultra voice does not work. Something is stopping the unit from communicating with the files. This can only be for 1 of 3 reasons.

1. The Igo core is not compatible
2. The voice_file_structure.txt and voice_sound_delays.ini, is in the wrong folder, can you confirm where do they go?
3. The sys.txt is not set up in order to tell the unit about the igo ultra voices.

Here is a copy of the sys.txt in my unit

[interface]
skin="ui_igo8_da"
vga=0
maxzoom2d=6000000

3d_min_zoomlevel=40
3d_max_zfar=500
;3d_scale_carmodel=1
;3dcarsizemin=60
;3dcarsizemax=70
;3dcarsizemul=65

[roundaboutcam]
enabled=0 ;(1)
centery=20 ;(50)

[screen]
menu_animation=0

[navigation]
show_current_city=1
show_countrychange=1

[debug]
disable_outlookpoi=1
show_oneway=1
show_speed_limit=1
skip_eula=1
enable_roadshadow=1

[sound]
sound_q_length=200
queue_length=200

I have not the time to stay online long, sorry.
But know that reasons 1 and 3 are imposible, reason 2 unthinkable, unless you changed it yourself

When I found the time, the forum suffered a database error. :(
Meanwhile,I had the time to think this over, because what is happening is not usual.

Can you check and try
- see if the speedcam warning for each different speedcam sort is enabled and test (in the voice warning menu at the bottom you enable or disable the warning for the speedcams - redlight, fixed, mobile, ... ; also you can test them)
- changing the voice? (male <->female)
- changing the audio files themselves (try US voice e.g.)

note:
I will be on line today when I can, but I will be off line starting tonight (my time, it's now 11:00AM) until Sunday march 6 late - or even Monday march 7)

You may want to see if you have this already. You have to check out and apply this fix if necessary but ALWAYS back-up the original first before editing anything - just in case.

For those who have a working data zip from a previous version do the following:

1. make a copy of your data.zip
2. open this copy with Winrar and change the name of the map ui_igo8 to ui_igo8_da
3. open the data.zip from the Nav N Go iGO 8 R3 series and copy the files ctype.dat and FFkeymap.txt to the data.zip above and confirm the changes.
4. now copy this modified data.zip to your SD card and make a soft reset.

For those who like to use the old branding.zip or skins, open the zip and change the ui-igo8 map to ui_igo8_da, always make a softreset.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
