Lol, I thought it might be something as simple as that, however I had a look through the settings and can't see where you select it. I am having a blond moment.

Clever you well done nabi. All working albeit funny pronounciation very englishy but not how the streets are pronounced. Thanks to you I now have an operational IGO8 unit you should be proud of yourself. The time and effort you have spent with me is well deserving. Thank you.

Is there any way I can tweak the safety cameras they make the most god awful beep when they flash up on the screen. Any ideas? I have been in to settings, warnings, speed camera warnings but there is nothing to (that I can see lol) where it can be changed. Can you help me out, or at least point me in the right direction ;)

The best way to do this is using a skin. Then you can enjoy voice warnings.
There is a big choice in skins. You need an iGO8.3 skin, NO (!) Primo skin.
http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?935-Skins-and-Themes-for-iGO-and-Amigo

Good choices are Gurjon and diMka.
For diMKA : [Please Register or Login to download file] . It's a good idea to go and see what is possible.
Gurjon stopped his development on skins and his website died. I can look for the latest skin if you like and do a re-upload.

Since you have basically built this up I will go with whichever you think is best, after all I expect you know them inside and out by now ;) I am in your hands.

Here is the last Gurjon:gj6.18p_da_fullpack.rar, download from [Please Register or Login to download file]

Unrar and you have a file extension.rar and the skin.rar.
Again unrar skin.rar until you have skin.zip. Add the zipped file to content/skin.
Unrar extension.rar and you have an extension folder, this one should go in iGO root (igo program folder)

You should visit the diMKa page as well, because you need the audio files (ultra voices) and you can get those there. There is an explanation how to install the files on that website too. ([Please Register or Login to download file] )
See if you can manage and get it to work. When you have questions, ask, but keep in mind that at work I have no GPS on me and I might need to peep on a working iGO to help further.

(a skin you choose in menu-settings-menu)

Thank you again, your assistance is really outstanding, I have spent today minimising the amount of ram that it takes to load the device and all is working much much faster. Can you tell me if IGO8 supports postcode search? at the moment I just have city and street name search. I will install the skin and get back to you with verdict tomorrow. Peace to you

Type the postcode in the city box in this format...

AA11 1AA

Note the space and also assuming it's UK postcodes you want.

I have followed the instructions and I now have the latest skin which looks great ;)

I have downloaded the ultra voices and placed them in the format that it says on the site audio-EN-Male_voice I have gone in to settings- Warnings-Speed Camera Warning-Audible Warning - Lang and I have selected English male. However, when I press test button the only sound I can hear is from the overspeed sound, the others are silent. Is this normal.

Ok found what I was doing wrong - I had to toggle the ultra voices, thats me set up and ready to move out. The device is quick, loads within 10 secs from pushing on button, and it looks and sounds great as a way of saying thankyou, I am just about to change servers in the next 48 hours so I will contact you when I have and start to put some mirrrors up for you. I will also upload my working settings on other sites ;) where other people can experiment with, and they won't have to go through the whole escapade of setting it up, Very happy and a big thank you for all your help. No doubt I will have some more questions later woohoo!

Marcy,
If you don't mind I would like to interject here at this point. It was at Navitotal.com and not at any other forum site that you received all the necessary support to get you up and running. I understand your exuberance in wanting to share your experience with others at other forum sites but it is against the forum rules here to benefit anyone except Navitotal members. If others want to share in the excellent support and information you received here then all they have to is register with us like you did. BTW, it was very enjoyable helping you and we all look forward to a long mutual relationship.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Ok sure, I understand, I will keep it contained on this site only.

I have one last problem which I am hoping that you can help me with in regards to the speed camera sound setting. Is the voice supposed to warn of a camera on the approach?

At the moment, when I approach a speed camera I still get the loud annoying beeping sound instead of the voice Is there anyway I can remove the beeping sound. I have gone all through the settings and I cannot see where the beeping sound is set up?? I have selected igo ultra voice, and I have successfully tested the voices in the test menu. But for some reason it doesn't seem to work when I am navigating.

What I would like is just the voice to tell me that I am approaching a speedcamera is this possible?

I have visual warning enabled, spoken warning enabled, 'at speed' enabled, 'hide sound on' = off, sound when speeding 'alert 5'.
Don't know if the names are accurate, but I think you will find it.

I have all those settings set up properly, however I still get the annoying beep, is there anyway of editing the sys.txt to remove the annoying beep and just have the Ultra camera voice?

Is the Ultra Voice supposed to warn when approaching a speed camera? how does it work exactly.

Here is a copy of my sys.txt file:

[interface]
skin="ui_igo8_da"
vga=0
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
laneinfo_signpost_enabled=1

[map]
2dheadup=1
3d_max_tiltlevel=9000
3d_default_tiltlevel=9000
3d_max_zoomlevel=500
3d_min_zoomlevel=40
3d_max_zfar=500
;3d_scale_carmodel=1
;3dcarsizemin=60
;3dcarsizemax=70
;3dcarsizemul=65

[roundaboutcam]
enabled=0 ;(1)
centery=20 ;(50)

[screen]
menu_animation=0

[navigation]

Many thanks

You still get the annoying beeps at approaching a speed cam, then disable 'at approach'. When it's disabled and enabled for speeding, watch your speed ;)

When the beep is before each spoken warning, not only speedcams, add in sys.txt:
[sound]
ding=0
Anyway, this line don't hurt ;)
