Volume Problem on Nexus 7 and Smart Route Data Inactive

Tue Oct 16, 2012 2:55 pm

Hi all, hoping someone can help. I have Igo Primo for Android 2.0 9.6.7.235654 (from thin 1.2) running very nicely on my Nexus 7 but I have two problems. One is that when I'm in the car I have the tablet connected to the car stereo via the 3.5 headphone jack. I can't use bluetooth as the car is too cheap to have one. The volume of igo's TTS is about half that of the media volume so when I have music playing I cannot hear announcements. I've tried all sorts of sys.txt mods being an old WM igo user but nothing seems to work. Anyone got any ideas? I have the JB audio corrected version of the Igo apk and when it's not on headphones TTS seems loud.

The second problem is that I have the Navteq maps 2012 Q2 but the Smart Route Profiles show as Inactive Content. Am I missing a license file to make these active? Anyone have one or care to share?

Thanks in advance,

Booce

What voice file structure are you using? What is the file extension? - .???

Hi, I'm using Svox TTS as my android/Primo TTS voice with TTS Pro enabled Primo voices using the Nuance style text file. TTS works and is audible quite clearly when on speakers, but the volume drops at least 50% when I plug the headphones jack in.

Thanks for the info. It is a good post. What happens if you try another headphone? Your old one might have gone bad since the speakers appear to be fine.

No worries, thanks for taking the time to think about my problem. I'm not actually listening on headphones, I have a 3.5 Aux port in my car that I am connecting to the Nexus via the headphones socket. I'm listening to music fine over this connection, and if I pause the music, I can hear Igo's announcements. They are just waaay to quiet to hear when the music is playing. Basically, I know the headphone hardware and cables are ok.

Android lowers the volume when headphones are plugged in, at least on my SGS2 it does, did you try turning it up again?

Yup, first thing I checked :-) all volumes are set to full.

Booce,
Like you said, let me also state the obvious answer. Don't use headphones LOL.

Have you checked the volume level within IGO?

Tue Oct 16, 2012 9:10 pm

Yes, I've made sure all volumes are set to max in igo and on the tablet itself. Unless I turn the music volume down to about 1 third, I can't hear the igo announcements. Sadly that volume is so low that when I turn the car stereo up loud enough to hear,I have hiss :-(

Seems like igo is not using any of the volume types I can control on the nexus.

You're dealing with a cracked program so anything could wind up happening. Sometimes you just have to make due.

Check your ringer volume level as iGO uses that volume not the media volume.

Thanks Chas, and I understand that, but it's nice to get things as you'd like them and I am used to igo being super customizable via the sys.txt.
Thanks too to fatboyfun for pointing me at the ringer volume as being the one Igo uses, I'll try attacking it from that angle.

Yes. Not really a 'special' license, just a newer one that includes the (new) Speed Profile files.
Unzip the attachment and put in the ..\License folder. If you already have one with the same name, delete it and replace with the newer one.
FSP content should then be enabled on the next Primo start.

Thanks Yurbuh Tuggly! That worked exactly as you described and now all my content is active. Appreciate that.
