TTS does not work with Primo 8.5.11

Mon Oct 11, 2010 10:02 pm

Hello,

I had 8.5.9 and everything worked fine. I then replaced with 8.5.11, I am using the exact same files (folders, .dll, etc), normal voice is working but TTS refuses.

Any idea?

Thanks.

You don't say but I assume it's TTS_LOQ. Read this:

Thank you Chas. I did that and it is working now, however it is kind'a strange.
First - it is like getting stuck when I choose the TTS voice. For example - I have two US TTS voices, I click one of them, it is highlighted and nothing happens. I click the one next to it and both are highlighted. Then the first one that I chose start speaking ("Have a nice trip..."). It did not do this before I added the line.
Second - I only added the line to the female file, bit now both the femail and male TTS speaks. Strange.

Here is the .ini file after adding the line in your link.

Thanks.

When you click on a voice, do you wait about 30 seconds to hear the greeting or do you click on another voice right away? You have to wait. Are the voices you have in content\voice MY modified voices or did you get them elsewhere? Because they are not modified.

My info.ini for Susan. Different than yours:

Not sure if it is 30 seconds, but there is a delay which I did not have at all with iGO8.3 and/or Primo 8.5.9.

Every time there is a new program issued, there is a change which affects the new program differently from the previous version. Maybe it's because a new person is "touching up" the new version. In any case, the delay only happens when you are selecting the greeting and not the navigation commands. You never answered me about where you got the voices.

These are TTS voices that I've been using since 8.3.

I suggest you use my modified voices from the link I gave you above.

Thanks Chas,

I downloaded the files in the link above. Turns out these are the exact same files that I had originally (name/size/content wise). To be on the safe side I re-named the original ones and used your files. Unfortunately there is no change. Still delay with Susan, Dave often doesn't speak at all. I think I'll revert back to 8.5.9.

Sometimes what is old is better. As for the voices, mine are more current. All you need to look at is the version number.
