TMC + Igo + Mio Moov S505

TMC + Igo + Mio Moov S505

Postby kevinjansen » Sun Jun 16, 2013 4:29 pm

Hi there all!
After reading the forum and looking for a similar problem I couldn't find a good solution.
Let me explain:
I have a Mio Moov S505 With Igo primo (I guess) (version 1.1 (9.2.1.178658))
I have installed a special unlock to enable the TMC: igo Primo TMC for Mio Spirit 685 683 Unlock
With This pre-set unlock I am able to receive TMC on my Mio Moov S505.
I had installed more recent and better versions of Igo but then the TMC menu and functions where gone.
Is there a way to get a better and faster version of Igo (maybe give me a good advice on which version to pick) and still keep the TMC functions working?
As far as I know, the special unlock enables the TMC for Igo.

Hope this information is enough and hopefully someone knows how to help me out with this one!

Thanks in advance for all the helpful people that are willing to help me.

Kind regards,

Kevin Jansen

When upgrading iGO, did you copy any specific TMC sys.txt entries across?

You end your intoduction with "With This pre-set unlock I am able to receive TMC on my Mio Moov S505."
So in that situation TMC and Primo worked fine.
"Installing" a new Primo version simply means:
1. Repacing the Primo exe-file
2. Replacing the data.zip wiht the data.zip file that came with new version
3. Replacing the skin in content/skin
Note: 2&3 very much depend on the installed version, is not always required.

My advise is: Go back to the situation where (also) TMC worked and only replace the files mentioned above.
It is advisable to rename or remove the map save (making a fresh start).

@ Fatboyfun: When I 'upgraded' Igo I just did a 'clean' install. That means deleting the old one and just place the whole new version in the SD card. But you are saying that if I would copy the the TMC details and settings in the sys.txt file and paste them in the new sys.txt file the TMC menu and functions would appear and work properly?

@JohannesJ With the pre-set unlock that comes with a special unlock and an rather old version of Igo I am indeed able to receive TMC and the menu and functions appear in Igo. But you are saying that if I would copy the content primo.exe and the data.zip + any skins the version of Igo would be updated and TMC functions would still work, am I correct? If so can anyone recommend a good version of Igo to copy over my current version?

Anyway Thanks a lot for the fast and good replays and solutions, I am very happy with the fast responses!

Kind regards

TMC on mio moov's is controlled by a registry entry which is written when the original app is started, or by certain unlocks, iGO needs dll's and sys.txt entries to be able to use TMC.

Look in the old sys.txt for any TMC entries and copy them into the new sys.txt, also in the old iGO directory copy any TMC dll's to the new iGO directory.

You wrote......f Igo would be updated and TMC functions would still work, am I correct?.---> Yes
The unlocker (=start sequence changer) sets a.o. the register value for TMC (RegWriteDWord("HKLM", "\Drivers\BuiltIn\SW_TMC", "Protocol", 00000001 ) from 0 to 1 to make TMC active for Primo. Also sys.txt has to be adapted.
Apparently all this has been done and Primo & TMC functions properly.
I use Primo 2.4 version 9.6.13.267029 and works fine on my Mio V735.
To change your Primo version to 2.4, simply carry out the recommandations mentioned in #3.
Rename the existing Primo.exe to Primo.exe.old, data.zip to data.zip.old and folder save to save-old. So you preserve the existing Primo and its settings.
Once the new version functions, you can delete these files. So all risks have been avoided.

@johannesJ
I did what you suggested, but unfortunately with no success. I renamed the primo.exe the data.zip and the save folder. Also I imported the new skins in the content map.
The new primo started but unfortunately without the TMC menu or any Traffic function at all. This is really disappointing and I would really like this to work!
Also you mentioned that the TMC is enabled by changing the value in the registry. So if you are somehow able to make the same change in the registry as the unlocker does that I would be able to use any unlocker I would like? If yes that would be great! But the thing that bothers me most is that when Primo is 'updated' the TMC function disappear! I really hope that there is a solution to this problem!
Also I really would like to thank you already for the great help you already gave me!

@fatboyfun
I ' upgraded' the primo and left the sys.txt and the TMC .dll's where they where but without success. The TMC menu and functions won't appear after upgrading. Thanks for the help you gave me.

I hope that someone know a solution. Also I would like to mention that I Always had a problem with the unlock: When SD card is inserted, the mio won't start! When I remove the SD card and reset system then I am able to start the mio with the unlock.

TMC.

1. Check your old data.zip and look in config/devices for file MIO_V505TV.ini (are a similar file). That ini.file contains the following lines:

# MIO V505TV.ini

[device]
info_names="HAMMER_VT500"

[device]
sdcard_dsk_num = 2

[gps]
port=2
baud=57600

[poi]
use_multi_poi_icon=0

[map]
poi_grouping_distance=0

[tmc]
source="GNSPORT"
port="COM,1"
baud=14400
internal_tmc_name="gnsport"
tuner_alg_search_force_on=1
tuner_alg_search_timeout=10000
tuneralg_rds_packet_timeout=6000
tuneralg_8a_packet_timeout=6000
tuneralg_3a_packet_timeout=20000
tuneralg_last_8a_packet_timeout=10000

[power]
backlight_status="0"

[Interface]
clearcity=1
extra_settings=1
show_detailed_posinfo=1
has_secondary_root=0

[network]
available="0"

If so copy that ini-file to the new data.zip.

2. As the startup and sys.txt have not been changed, above mentioned could be the problem.

Check if sys.txt contains following lines:
[tmc]
port=1
baud=14400
source="GNS"
saved_config_available="1"
saved_config_classname="NMEA_GPSTMC_GNSPORT"
saved_config_portname="COM"
saved_config_port="1"
auto_tuning="1"

If not copy these lines to your sys.txt

3. To have a full control over the TMC the use of Dimka skin 1.71 is recommended.

It Worked! The last TMC line in the sys.txt was missing causing is to fail while loading the TMC information!
[tmc]
port=1
baud=14400
source="GNS"
saved_config_available="1"
saved_config_classname="NMEA_GPSTMC_GNSPORT"
saved_config_portname="COM"
saved_config_port="1"
auto_tuning="1"
When I add this to the sys.txt it worked like a charm!
Thank you so much! I couldn't thank you enough!
Finally I have a nice and fast version of Igo with the TMC information great!
Once again Thank you very much and everyone else that shared their ideas with me!
