TeleAtlas to TomTom maps

Postby lanceshaw » Tue Aug 28, 2012 1:49 pm

Hi

I have an inbuilt System in my car that has IGO with TeleAtlas maps from 2008. I have just downloaded the latest that are now TomTom maps, but do I need a new license for these.

Thanks

Lance

Hard to say. Depends on your present license.
What iGO build is it and where did you get it from?

That info is too general to do something with from behind my computer. ;-)
2008 maps point to a very old iGO 8.3, possibly 64873 build that is widely spread on in-car systems.
Probably the license won't allow the latest maps. And since license and exe file are a whole, you best renew iGO.

When you can access the system, it's easy to change to a newer build. Download one from http://www.navitotal.com/forumdisplay.php?83-Program-%28-data.zip-branding.zip-license%29 (may I suggest iGO 8 from march or may 2011, provided by Fatboyfun or Chas521?)
Copy your igo to your PC or an sd card or whatever. Make sure you have the original igo and maps in a safe place so that you can go back in case of emergency.
Then replace the original with the newly downloaded one.
See that the path to the exe is identical to the original (same file structure, same names for main folder and .exe file) and copy the maps in the iGO/content/map folder.

Or do as I do. Rename old map extension to fblX.
Add in new map and see if it works.:p
If not you can go back to your old map whilst you play with a new download of igo8.
