Stop iGo Primo from turning down muisc when there is a voice

Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:16 pm

I used igo primo for a while, every time I use it's music player, if there is a voice instruction, the music would be turn down, after the voice instruction, it backs to normal, any one know how to shut down this function? Thanks.

If you use a different music player (as an External Program) such as NaviPlayer, Nitrogen, or others that won't happen.
An additional bonus would then be that the player will be stereo instead of mono (if you use it to play through car speakers).

If you don't care for that option, there may be some settings you could add to sys.txt....and if I remember what they are, I will post them here. Or if somebody else can remember, feel free to post.

EDIT: I think these settings in sys.txt might help if using the built-in Music Player (will have no effect on a 3rd party external music player).

[vmc_voice]
enter_script="sc_volmanager_voice"
vmc_effect=100
vmc_media=40

This sets the ratio of music to voice volume. The default is typically 20 which would mean the music plays at 20% of the voice volume. If set to 100, the two volumes would theoretically be equal.

Additionally, there is this:

[volume_channels]
volumefade=2000

Which adjusts the time of the fade between voice and music. 2000 = 2 seconds (which is the default).

thank you very much, solution 1 works, but solution 2 doesn't.,this problem has been troubled me for a long time.

There may be other settings for sys.txt relating to the built-in music player, but honestly I don't use it and never have because I find it to be...well...dismal compared to either Nitrogen or NaviPlayer. Not being stereo is a deal breaker for me.

I've tried to use external music player, when there is a voice instuction, the music will stop (like a lag), that's why I'm trying to use igo's music player.

My device is Eroda X10, 128 MB RAM.

That may be a separate issue.
Some people have reported that adding this to sys.txt:

[sound]
dev_channels=2

Fixes some issues with music slowdown, lag, etc in Primo 2.
Don't know if it would help in your particular situation, but no harm in trying.

I have a similar problem, I like the fact the music goes quiet when the voice is activated, however my sound goes quieter even if there is no voice on and will go back to normal every now and then for like 10 seconds then go quiet randomly again.
Will that last code work on my syst file? If so do i just add it under the sound category that I already have or is there some other code that will work?
