Speed camera issue

Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:22 pm

Didn't notice this ever before ?
Speed camera notification works great on normal roads, visual countdown plus symbol on map.
On freeways no visual notification or distance shown, only the small speed cam symbol on map.
Tried diff skins, no change.
I have no ref to speed cams in my sys.txt to unbalance anything....
Any clues?

No clue, 'cause on my iGO (138649) speedcams work flawlessly. Everywhere.

Maybe it's in the SpeedCam Txt
The format is like this: X,Y,TYPE,SPEED,DIRTYPE,DIRECTION
X = horizontal/longitude (E/W) coordinate
Y = vertical/latitude (N/S) coordinate
TYPE = Camera type:
1 - Static camera,
2 - Built in Traffic light,
3 - Camera checking passing through red light,
4 - Section camera,
5 - Mobile camera
SPEED = Speed limit
DIRTYPE = Camera direction type:
0 - all directions (full 360')
1 - one direction (see DIRECTION field)
2 - both directions (DIRECTION + the opposite direction)
DIRECTION = Camera angle degree (between 0 and 359, 0 - North, 90 - East, 180 - South, 270 - West)

I can imagine that if some information is wrong, iGO don't "think" it should warn.
Also, can it not be a setting in your (skin) warning menu (like : no speedcamera warning when speed camera is more than x meters of the road)?

Just some thoughts.

Thanks NAbi

Ill go back to an earlier release as well and see what happens.
The camera type may also have a clue.

T'is something in 142975, went back to a couple of earlier versions and back they cam !

Need to find a stable low memory tts executable again. Might try your version (138649) 90500 is memory hungry..

138649 is a bad choice for TTS. It's a PDA release.
I don't care about TTS. Where I live, it' is not useful (to me) and no more then eye candy (ear candy?)

This leaves you with 117940 or 102680 (both driver alerts) or 96054 (no driver alerts).
90500 would be a good choice though, because its stability is legendary.

Gone back to 142975 as it has best memory with tts.
Speed cams now working as they should???

Sometimes I just give in :crazy:

This is a good example of what I've been preaching here for some time that something older might just be better than something new. "If it ain't broke don't fix it.":thumbup:
