Share MAP folder between AMIGO IGO8 PRIMO

Tue Oct 19, 2010 7:40 pm

Hi guys!
i know this is possible as ive read it somewhere,,,
i just cant make it work somehow,,,

ive got AMIGO IGO8 PRIMO all on a SD card
and all my MAPS/ 3D BUILDINGS/ 3D TERRAIN / POI's
are in my iGO8's content folder....

whats the proper line i need to type in AMIGO and PRIMO's sys.txt
to make those 2 read my iGO8's MAPS/ 3D BUILDINGS/ 3D TERRAIN / POI's folder ?

should it be like this?

[folders]
content="SDMMC\iGO8\content\map"
content="SDMMC\iGO8\content\building"
content="SDMMC\iGO8\content\dem"
content="SDMMC\iGO8\content\poi"

because if so, upon booting AMIGO, i get a no language file found error and it shuts down,,,,

thanx

While sharing content between the programs is possible, it is my experience that things run better when each program has its own content. Unless there is a space storage problem, I think it's better. FWIW, I have the content individually.

I share Amigo and iGO and in my Amigo sys.txt, I simply have

[folders]
content="\Storage Card\igo8\content"

It's also easy to handle a content folder outside the navigation program folders

oh my,,, i might try this :P

thanks!!

I said it was possible but it could lead to error messages. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

That is right. I keep the content folder outside any software and each sys.txt has in [folders]

content="\Storage Card\content"

when i shared the contents i had out of memory problems in amigo (and the most amazing thing was that it did not matter wether i shared it in amigo or in igo. i think amigo does not "like" having also *.zip and *.gro in the same folder.

BTW did you put lang files *.gro in the shared folder?

I share my content between Amigo and Primo and have no problem mixing zip and gro files in the same folder. Never had any memory problem with my Mio C320.

I've come to the conclusion that claims of sharing content files are cruel jokes on some of us newbies. I've spent untold hours trying every which way to get the 2din indash unit I've got to play nice without
much success. The closest I've come to getting results is a notice of "Your map files are outdated. Please contact your distributor" on startup. This is with the _same_ files; just moving them to map="StorageCard\content\map" is enough to trigger it.

Any thought on how to overcome this?

Thanks.

My device are mioc320
I've shared the folder in my flashdisk and works.
insert in sys.txt of primo this line:

[folders]
has_secondary_root=0
;sdcardpath="\my flash disk\Primo"
;app="..\..\Primo"
maps="..\..\IGO8\content\map"
buildings="..\..\IGO8\content\building"
dem="..\..\IGO8\content\dem"
poi="..\..\IGO8\content\poi"

Jim, be sure it's no practical joke !

Which program gives the message?
Can you be more specific about your iGO/Amigo/Primo builds, what builds, how they are on the sd or in memory and finally where you did get them. The notice is typical for a wrong license. So my first guess is you are mixing things up to much.

Body,

Thanks for the quick response...

Those sys.txt entries and many variations are what I've been playing with. Over the last couple weeks I've tried to point Primo to iGO8 & Amigo; iGO8 to Primo & Amigo; Amigo to Primo & iGO8
and lastly all of them to common content files on SD card root. I've altered sys.txt and this morning project config in data.zip. That was when the outdated warning popped up. Prior to that,
the most common result has been unable to find map files on startup.

Nabi,

I think the Primo and I know the Amigo files have been downloads of Chas521's uploads over the last year or so. Where he has been kind enough to upload his "working versions". For those of us
who are 'puter challenged, he's made it much easier to get up to speed.

What boggles my mind is the simple movement of the very same maps to the SD card root is enough to create problems. What is up with that?

Thanks for your help.
