Primo 2.0 : Panic Button without skin Possible?

Postby nabilone » Tue Jan 17, 2012 1:23 pm

Dear all,

Since 1st january, speedcams alerts are forbidden in France. I think, this will become forbidden in all Europe (or almost).
I would like to know, from developpers, if it's possible to add a panic feature wich disable speedcam alert (by modifying "speedcam_warning entry in sys.txt+reboot, for example).
This feature could be available by a long clic on an existing button (long clic on "Quick menu icon, for example).

I know this feature is available on some skins, is it possible to add it on a "non-skinned" Primo?

Thanks for reading.

If you can call an external application from within Primo, then it's not difficult to create a script to rename the speedcam folder and restart Primo, Then I could make it so running the app again would restore the folder and restart Primo, It could be mapped to the bluetooth button available with some skins, Without a skin involved then you would need to have some way to start the script, a hardware button or some sort of button overlay app.

Great!

But is there a way to "assign" this script to an existing button?

There are applications to map programmes to hardware buttons but it depends on the device whether the buttons are 'mappable'

I'm going to sort out a script for this later...

My Primo runs on a Chinese HU with no physical button assigned to the Navi part. Everything is done through the touch screen.

Miopocket has a 'floating button', I'm sure i could extract and adapt it for this purpose, It would be easier to use a skin though.

I'll look into it later tonight.

OK, My first go at this...

Download this -> 3722
Extract all the files and copy all the individual files into the iGO/Primo directory.

Use the external programmes or Bluetooth button features of the dimka skin to run HYSC.exe (Hide Your Speed Cams)

The first time it's run a window appears with a list of executables in the directory, Choose the iGO executable and tap OK.

Now the next time it's run iGO will be closed, The speedcam directory renamed to Datastore and iGO is restarted without the speedcams.

NOTE: iGO will create a new speedcam directory.

When it's run again, iGO is closed and the newly created speedcam directory is removed and Datastore is renamed back to Speedcam, Then iGO is restarted with the speedcams.

NOTE: As iGO is killed you may lose any recently changed settings, iGO ignores the Windows CE Close command.

QUICKLAUNCH.exe There is a Quick Launch app included which places a triangular button in the lower right corner which, when tapped starts HYSC.exe, Only use this if you don't have access to the external programmes feature within iGO.

Image

You can change the size, colour and location of the triangle in QuickLaunch.ini

[Settings]
Width=32
Height=32
Position=BottomRight, TopRight, TopLeft, BottomLeft
Color=0000FF
Command=\Storage Card\MobileNavigator\HYSC.exe

You must edit the path to HYSC.exe to match your setup.

Please provide feedback...

Hi Fatboyfun,

First, I'm sorry to having been so long too answer. Indeed, I didn't use my car this week.
So, I tried your solution yesterday, with both Primo 2.0 and 1.2 and it works almost perfectly (at 95%).

I used QuickLaunch Button because I don't have any physical button. I tried it many times (about 30 times) to see if it's sure and it succeeds almost all the times except twice, i got an HYSC error and igo didn't restarts. I don't know what is this error because it was in chinese (my Wince is in chinese).

Btw, I'm very satisfacted with this solution, so thank you very much!

OK:clap:

So I'll try to recuperate some memory by disabling 3D building and more.

Or maybe I'll try to insert some insects in my GPS :)
