Primo long time loading

Postby ovalball » Tue Nov 06, 2012 8:12 pm

More problems now.I am getting the message looking for gps,and this has been looking for about 30 minutes.I finally fitted the sat nav in permanantly today.I sited the gps receiver in the same place as it always was with my pioneer unit.No matter what I try I just keep on getting "looking for gps signal"On the sat strength it is getting a couple of red bars then a yellow then back to none!I have even tried 2 different primo SD cards but the results still the same.I have reset the unit, deleted the save folders but my primo boots up and shows the centre of Paris!!It puts the slow boot into perspective.

Sounds like the GPS signal isn't getting though to the unit, could the aerial have come loose?

It's a strange one because the unit has a GPS icon(not to run the primo program) and that appears to be working because it is giving the correct lat and Lon co ordinates. It seems as though this info isn't getting through to Primo but I don't know why!

Are you also using the same sys.txt as from another unit?
If so, it may have specific [GPS] settings that do not apply to the new unit. And in effect, you may be 'forcing' Primo to use the wrong settings...so no GPS signal.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

try booting up without the sys.txt. rename the one you already have or put it in a backup up file.

cheers

No, not seen that before, where did you get primo from originally? And is it rebooting the device or just restarting?

There are modified builds around that have "issues"

I haven't read what is above and forgive me if I forget but if you're unhappy with Primo why not download a different nav?
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Dangerous place, that.:)
Unless my name is in the Torrent description there (I have a few listed), it did not come from 'here'.
If the word 'International' or a name that begins with "Z" is anywhere in it, it's definitely not mine.
If it was, I would be ashamed to say so due to the number of errors and misconfigurations in it.
If it is mine, I humbly submit that you will not find a more 'stable' version..only that there may be other issues either with hardware or content added.

PS. "Branded POI icons" is (and should be) something that is added...not built in to the install.
See the link in my signature for Primo2...and look for the POI Add-On Pack on that page.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Right, started from scratch with the link you kindly provided. All issues seem to have been resolved after install.Only slight query. The load screen has the International logo in the bottom left hand corner when loading.I installed the additional skins and all is working up to now.Next might try to get the map changer going but i dont want to push my luck!
