Primo on Chinese GPS 7 "/ 800x480/128 MB/800mh/WinCE 6

Postby gpsmania » Mon Jul 04, 2011 10:33 am

I think the map is right because when I tested with my PND almost the same specification 800x480, 5" 128RAM, 4GB ROM, windows CE 6, primo runs perfectly, the problem is only for my double din, really strange indeed

Yurbuh Tuggly wrote:That's better...now we have something to work with. My next guess (I have 18 more, right?) is that something in sys.txt is not right. Of course, it would be helpful to know what you do have in sys.txt, but this is unknown by me, so I will just say "something". Maybe it would be instantly recognizable as incorrect, maybe not. So you have two choices:
1) Post the entire text contents of your sys.txt here.
2) Edit sys.txt and remove everything--just leave a blank file-- and let Primo try to determine the correct settings. It's often quite good at this. For this to work, you should have a data.zip with 3 different resolutions in it--not just one.

You did the right thing. Your sys.txt is WWWAAAAAYYYYY too big! Did you copy some or all of it from iGo 8? That can turn out bad. Also, did you copy any OTHER files over from your working iGO8 installation? Except for maps and other map-related content, that can also turn out bad.
BUT, in order to test, you also have to delete the Save folder in your Primo folder. This will then be recreated with new (detected) settings on the next start of Primo.
Report back.
1) Delete Save folder
2) leave sys.txt blank
3) Restart.

Possibly YT has a long list, as have I.

Why don't you start by simple testing this (in case the language file is corrupted - one of my guesses) :
Copy the language file from the working PNA and replace the one on the Chinese Din with it.

I did what have you said, test under PND is good, then remove the save folder, the same result, exit after choose language., I'm really so confuse about this...hihi

Your Primo is on a sd? Is this the same Primo and the same sd as worked on the other PNA?
Some times sd cards fail, there is nothing really wrong, but they just fail, having a bad sector or something.
Reformat the sd (better, use a new one) and place Primo back on, No save folder!

yes on sd card, StorageCard, yes the same, but before I run it under double din, I erase folder save first. I think the problem is not sd card because my igo8 is running well even using the same sd card, btw thank you

OK, here's what we have so far:
1) Memory (128 MB) should not be an issue
2) Primo runs on one device, but the exact same does not run on another device <<<--- do I have this correct?

What we are left with is what could be the difference between these two devices? Does the D-Din have something running all the time that is taking too much memory? Possible.

Copy data.zip from the Primo folder on the SD Card to your computer. Open it with WinRar or similar. Click the ui_igo9 folder within data.zip.
How many sets of numbers do you see at the top, and what are they?

1. 128MB memory is RAM (Random Access Memory) not storage memory.
2. What is this means? You can test primo on PND (primo on memory card) then unplug your memory card, erase the folder save via pc then plug your memory card into double din, it should be ok as long as the specification is so similar (800x480p, 128MB of RAM, Windows Ce 6). Could be has different hardware config system, so we need to edit sys.txt, but I tried many times and always no good result.

About the problem, I think primo will detect something that we do not know so, when double din seems not usual, primo reject to continue its proses.
I tried iGO8 on my double din, running perfectly, amigo also, only primo cannot. This is really strange indeed. I tried many version of primo, no one success for my double din.

I tried to test sygic on my double din, it seems similar problem, when I selected the map to activate the license, sygic will close automatically, but if I skip this step, the program sygic running well on my double din. So I think it is the similar problem with primo, when detect something that I really don't know, the program will close itself.

Really make me confuse and need more patient to solve this...hihihi, any advices would be appreciated.

Thanks in advanced

Well, I guess you don't want to do what I ask to try to help you solve the problem step by step. So I also guess you will just have to wait until somebody smarter than I comes along.
So I'm all out of guesses after all.

Chas521 had some success by replacing non working Primo 1.2 by his own build: http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?5500-November-Primo-1.1-from-my-device
You could try it, maybe this version works - even if before (another) v1.1 did not.
Not tried, not succeeded.

Correction...addition...whatever. If you use the newer diMka Skin (available here: http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?6579-diMka-WA-P1.3.3-Skin-for-iGO-Primo-1.2 ). You can do it in two clicks--not one, but it's better than 5 or 6. Configure the lower left button as Volume. Tap and hold (AKA "Long Tap") and it will take you to where you can mute individual volumes for guidance, etc. It's a shortcut.
I'm not sure if this feature exists in previous diMka skins--if it did, I was not aware of it--but it's definitely in the 1.3.3 version.
Hope this helps a bit.
