Is this clear. If you know how to alter the mio system files dos.
You can load up to any account of software as you want till your sd card can hold.
There is no need for any unlock programs - when it bricks you cry.

One simple question - how does your unit works without a OS.
.

THanks, Peacher

Obviuosly there is an OS on my MIO.
The fact that Program Files folder is empty, says that no application was installed yet.
if you compare it to a "real" WINXP for example, you can run an application even if it wasn't installed onto the PC
(i.e. by using a SETUP.EXE file). As long as the application EXE file (e.g. MIOMAP.EXE or IGO8.EXE) knows where to find all it needs
in order to run, then all is fine. When you copy the IGO/PRIMO folder to a SD card, the application runs fine and it was not instaled
whatsoever (i.e. no extra files in Program Files folder), so how can that be (on the SD there is surly no program Files nor Windows
folders but still all is running fine?

Am I the first one who tries that? When I began this I thought it's much simpler.

You mean to say that your internal flash is empty - no files at all - just click properties and check the details. I am using Mio devices for donkey years now. I installed all softwares without much diffculties except GarminXt and tomtom. No unlocks required at all. Simple DOS programming thats all.
Since if you can't find the files. I can't help you any further.

@danny

When I gave you the "how" to make your device work, that is what you should leave it at. Remember, the ultimate goal is to have your device working successfully. This is why I have in my signature line - If it ain't broke don't fix it. Which means if it's successfully working, it's not a good idea to play with it unless there is a new program addition that you really need. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the effort so far.
I didn't say that the internal flash is empty - I said that the folder Program Files is.
All the folders required for WINCE are there (e.g. Windows, My Documents, Desktop etc.).
Also MIOMAP was there .

Let me summarize what I did/wants to do:

All I tried to do is replace the folder MIOMAP with PRIMO. I copied some folders (LUNCHPAD, APP and MIOMAP) as CHAS521 recommended
and I have access to the internal flash as well as to the SD card (this way I was able to run MIOMAP fromthe internal flash + also IGO8 and
PRIMO out of the SD card with no problem). All the DOS programming you mentioned is OK and all is running great.

Having found that PRIMO is stable and OK, I want to stop using MIOMAP and IGO8 and stay only with PRIMO running fromthe internal
flash. When it'll run I'd like to have extra maps on the SD card.

I can still use the C-320 as mentioned above, but if there is a way to use it better then I prefer it.

Thank you all for responding,
Danny

Thank you, Chas521

I think I'll adopt your approach. It's not that critical.
If no easy solution found, I'll go back to the previous state in 5 minutes.
