POI Missing

Postby tmusc » Wed Mar 12, 2014 1:22 pm

Hello Everyone, I am relatively new to this GPS programming. I have a Chinese 2 Din GPS unit which has worked fairly well. It came with igo software and recently i have updated to the igo primo. My only problem is that I have no POI available on the map. The files are there on the SD Card. Does anyone know what the issue could be?

You have no POI available on the map, but when you use the "find places" you can find POI's?
Go into Settings-> Map Settings-> Place Markers and check the categories you want to have on the map.

There are simply no POI available at all. The unit does not display any on the map and the area to find the POI remains greyed out.

Do you have POI files and where have you put them?
What POI files are we talking about (full name)? When the POI are Nevteq Extended, you also need the normal POI files from Navteq.

the poi files are in the "primo2\content\poi" directory and examples of the file names are:

Lets say for Michigan:

USA_Michigan_HERE_2013.q3_131120.poi
USA_Michigan_HERE_Extended_2013.q3.131202_(Rich).poi

I have two files for each state.

Hmm, that is correct and should be so.

Could it be a license issue?
See this thread : general-discussions-about-igo-core-f87/license-for-2013-north-america-maps-t15290.html#p124755, in post #4 you will find a license pack.

I can add that I see sort of resemblance in the issue.

Looks like the files have been removed now. Violates the terms of use.

Just out of curiosity. If you have 2nd quarter maps and use 3rd quarter POI files would that be a problem? This isn't the case here. I am just wondering. In other words if I am using 3rd quarter maps should I be using 3rd quarter POI files.

That should not be a problem.

One more question. Do I have to add the path in the sys.ini file to the POI directory or is just assumed to be the location by the igo program?

Needed are the POI (normal plus extended) in the content/POI folder. Stupid remark possibly, but watch the spelling of the folder names.
No sys.txt entry.
Then in settings, you can enable what POI you want visible on the map.

When you go to help-about, you should be able to see the installed maps and POI. Do you see the list and are the file names in black or red or greyed out?

License pack re-uploaded.

No need to add the path in the sys.txt.

I am starting to think it is a license file issue. How can I resolve this?

What version of Primo did you upgrade to, and where did you got it from?
Did you try to use any of the license files suggested on post #12?
