Did you try that?

Are those files/folders by themselves on a SD card or in a folder called Navigation. Understand? I'm just trying to get the correct path. That's what I meant by using your head.

Thanks guys. I will try and answer both the questions by chas521 and nabi below...

I renamed the iGO8 main folder to navigation( it is all small case on my SD cards not Navigation ).

I have renamed the iGO8.exe file from chas521's download to iGO, igo( how it is spelled on the 2 SD cards for my radio specifically ), and navigation( how it is spelled on the older SD card w/ 8.3.4 from a handheld device ). I just changed the name. I haven't added .exe( shouldn't have to I don't think ).

On the 2 SD cards that came with the radio there is a seperate application file called navigation( all small case )and then an igo application file( all small case ). The igo file is approx 6MB. The navigation file is approx 30KB. If you look at post #13 you will see these 2 files. On the older SD card they sent from some type of handheld device the iGO8.exe file is called navigation( see screen shot post #28 ). It doesn't have the igo and navigation application files. I "THINK" that small navigation.exe file is for the NAV button on the faceplate of the radio and for the Nav option in the menu but am not sure.

As far as

[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

I did try changing iGO8 to navigation which is the name of the folder my files are in on the SD card. I did not remove the % signs though. I can try that and see if it helps?

Chas521, my device is a car radio that has GPS in it. It is an Astrium( mfg ) GEE-0809. It is basically a non name Chrysler OEM radio from an authorized Chrysler radio builder. Very similar to the Media Center/MYGIG Chrysler radios.

The extra SD card they sent with iGO8 ( 8.3.4.##### )on it clearly came out of some type of handheld device based on some of the options it has that would not make sense for a car radio. I don't know what device however sorry.

I noticed that RAM can be an issue with some radios from my reading of various threads on the forum but this radio has 256MB of SDRAM so it should be more than enough right? Here is a link to the radio I have in case it may help you in some way( scroll to bottom of screen for spec's )...

Usually, folders and .exes don't have any problems if they are in CAPS or small letters. All of the time, it's passwords that have to be exact. Notice I said usually. I see that you're trying different things so good for you. It's the path to the program that needs work somewhere. You just have to keep trying.

EDIT: Nice device BTW.

I may have missed your post where you tried this tip that can be useful or just the opposite, depending on the devices system software.
Starting the navigation without SD card present, often the path is revealed in an error message (like "sdcard\navigation\navigation.exe is not found")

gsthunder ,

may i ask what is inside your working SD license folder ?

Do you have any hex editor ?
If yes please send the two last line of working igo.exe .

Also please send version as seen from file property .

The igo8.exe inside familypicnic is version 8.3.5.183522 and two last hex line are :

Here is some conclusions for the rar file I've posted:
The two-parts version I had on my computer, and uploaded 1 big rar file of it, didn't have the "ui_igo8\800_480".
Maybe this is the size difference that chas521 talked about.

A few minutes ago I've downloaded the 2 parts from upl.me, and it includes the "ui_igo8\800_480" (~17MB).

Can it be that this is gsthunder's problem? The rar file that he used, missed the correct resolution files he needs?
@gsthunder - here is the additional file you need. download [Please Register or Login to download file] , un-rar it, and copy the "800_400" folder into the "ui_igo8" folder (480_272 is already there).

@chas521 - Links for you to use:
[Please Register or Login to download file] Version for 480X272 only
[Please Register or Login to download file] Version for 480X272 + 800X480

I'm sorry if I did some mess. :(

We did not know the res folder was missing, assuming all was there. And as usual, we can not see directly what is happening.
So yes, the missing resolution could be the cause.

A missing or fully wrong resolution (that is the ***_*** folder is missing and the sys.txt lines are or wrong like set for 320_240) and iGO won't even start in most cases. Just for a second or so.
But a missing file with the correct sys might work, depending on the device, depending on the lines in sys. A partial screen - but working program - often leads us to the cause.
The symptom (working or non working program) may depend on the WindowsCE. Every device manufacturer makes changes to CE, so CE fits the device or the companies look or ....

I hope the solution is found now and all works as should.

Guys,
If gsthunder downloaded MY program from MY iGO8 thread, then he has downloaded every known resolution that is available. My zips contain all. If filesupload100 deleted the unused resolutions, then that would make it custom to his device. So what you say is true above but I'm pretty sure that it's not his problem. I only offered iGO8 because that's what he already has on the SD cards but with his device he could use anything. Here's Primo if you would like to see or even use that instead http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?12043-iGo-Primo-2.4-9.6.13-Complete-Torrent

True, but let's get iGO working first. If for some reason iGO don't work at all, there is quite a chance that Primo won't either.
When iGO does work, which we wil know soon, I hope, gsthunder can (if he wants) move on to Primo and see if he likes it better. And then he knows exactly how to do things because he succeeded in making iGO work..

Sorry I stopped posting last night. I pretty much stopped working on it after my last post. My Dad taught school for 30 some years and out of the blue a former student showed up here last night to see him and it turned into a 4 hour visit. I stopped working on this to keep the dog out of the way.

I have read through the newest posts and will work on some of the new ideas as well as double check all the previous steps. One thing...

The issue was brought up about "ui_igo8\800_480" and where I downloaded the main files.

1 - I used filesupload100's one piece version.

2 - I have looked to see what is there. I have 2 places with the ui_igo8 file name. There is a stand alone file folder called ui_igo8 that is there when you open the main IGO8 folder( navigation for me ). That ONLY has a 480_272 resolution folder in it. Under the zipped DATA file folder it has a whole bunch of different resolution file folders and includes my 800_480 resolution. Do I need to get a 800_480 folder into that stand alone ui_igo8 folder?

Hopefully this will show what I mean and make it more clear...

This is my main IGO8 folder( called navigation for me )....
[Please Register or Login to download file]

You can see it has a stand alone ui_igo8 file folder. If I open it this is what is there( just the one resolution folder )...
[Please Register or Login to download file]

If I open the zipped DATA file folder I get this...
[Please Register or Login to download file]

If I click on the ui_igo8 file folder in there I get this...
[Please Register or Login to download file]

So do I need an 800_480 in that 1st folder too? Could that be the problem here?

I will wait for your answers before I try and do more.

Thanks to all for the way you are trying to hard to help me with this. I hope I don't let you down and figure it out.

Yes you do need the 800_480 resolution folder/files in both places. This is why I told you to download MY version [both parts]. Make the necessary edits and stop fooling around LOL.

I didn't know I was fooling around? Sorry. Thought it was YOUR version just put into 1 file by the other member.

I downloaded the 800_480 rar from filesupload100 and added it to the folder. I also edited the sys.txt and removed the % signs as well. Went out and tried it and something new happened. It actually tried to autoload when the radio was turned on like the OE version does. It didn't get anywhere but it did try. I got an error that said application data base not found. Not sure what that means or how to address it? I tried manually loading the SD card from the touch screen SD card button as well and I just got the same black screen that said loading with the little iGO icon in the middle of it.

This is the sys.txt as I have it on the SD card I am trying to use. Does anyone see anything I messed up?

Application database not found is the easiest error message to fix. It simply means that the device cannot find the correct path to the program. You're VERY close now.
