New map does not load

Postby endor » Sun Feb 10, 2013 10:16 am

Hi,

I have a iGo NNG system and i'm trying to add a map that was not previously in this system.

However it does not seem to load the new map.

I've added the fbl file and the fsb file.

I believe it's a Primo 1 system 9.1 is the version of the navigation application

Any ideas what this could be, is it the lyc license that limits the possible maps?

If any newer maps placed in the correct folders are not recognized (go to Help>About>More>Content>Maps to see if they are), it may indeed be a license issue. Is this a 'legitimate' version of iGo/Primo that came with the device?
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

fsb ??

Is it an official Primo? Then it could be the license. Or the map is not right somehow. Where/how did you get it?

Its official and the original release of both the primo and the map.

The map is intended for another release of this unit and primo won't load if i use the license that came with this map.
It's an OEM unit and not running WinCE..

Not WinCE? What unit? And where is Primo located? On SD? Or in memory?

All bets are off then....sorry.
What you have is some kind of highly customized version made proprietary....no 'normal' version of iGo/Primo would run under Unix/Linux. So nothing here is likely to work very well ( If at all), as it is all for WinCE devices...at least all the iGo/Primo stuff. You may be tied to the dealer for any updates. Or find a Linux/Unix Wizard who might be able to modify any files as necessary.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I am that wizard..
i guess i need to do some decompiling and learn assembler.

All the layout of the files and folders match the IGO Primo setup and i guess i need modification on the executable equivalent to what has been done on the exe file on CE.

Thanks for quick response and willingness to help, it's appreciated! :)

Chances are (unless the Unix developers REALLY made iGo/Primo proprietary to that manufacturer/device), just like the Android version of Primo, that the maps (*.fbl) would work as they are..if they retain the *.fbl name and file format.
All newer *.fbl maps work with all versions of iGo/Primo from 8.3 forward...at least for the WinCE and Android versions (not sure about Apple). Then the problem becomes a licensing issue where a replacement license file (*.lyc) may not be recognized by the uncracked Unix modified *.exe file. The usual 'fix' is to replace the entire install with a 'fixed' one from here and then freely use all the latest maps and related content, but you cannot do that. Not with Unix as the OS.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.
