Don't forget to edit (don't delete it) the maplaunch.ini (or something like that) in the root folder of your SD card (this file comes with your nav unit). You have to choose the new Igo path in it (also icon, text...)

Daviddirwin18 should know that ;)
He got iGO 8.0 (retrieved from a torrent link) running on his own, but encountered some issues before he discovered this forum. He did or does some "site shopping" though ;)

I just installed a Chinavasion Stargate double din in my van. I had a working copy of IGO8 that ran on a handheld GPS but couldn't get it to run on the new double din. The "Double din 2Din GPS - How to install" tutorial got me up and running with minimal pain.

I had a couple of problems with the software in the tutorial. The GPS Spy software that is supposed to discover your unit's GPS port did not work (just locked up). IGO has it's own port discovery tool so this was no big deal. My unit is running CE5 so maybe that was the problem.

Also, the minimalist IGO installation supplied with the tutorial would not run on my unit until I added a "resolution_dir = " line to the [interface] section of sys.txt (can't remember the exact setting).

And you probably already know you can find maps at ig8.keep.pl

IGO is pretty nice once you get it running. I would have been lost without Navitotal.

Good Luck!

thanks everyone for the great info, just downloaded the NA maps. Got the program loaded up on my double din last night.. just have one issue;

the touch screen seems all out of whack, for instance i try and touch the ok button on the bottom right of the screen, and nothing happens, i have to touch almost of top right of the screen for the ok button to initiate. Hopefully its something i can fix in the sys. txt, i have the interface and raw display set as 480*272 right now, i tried changing it to 800*480 but when i try to load the program it says it cannot start because of the resolution, can anyone give me a solution please and thank you.

When the screen looks good and the resolution is okay, than it's a matter of calibrating the screen. That is a device issue. Check your manual.

Your device is 800x480? Then you need the 800x480 data.zip
Currently sleeping...

The only thing you can do is to minimize the things to load in memory. No unnecessary maps, no DEM, buildings, speedcams, use a non TTS voice, .. but do not expect miracles.

Or you might try Amigo like Chas521 has provided: http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2855-Amigo-complete-with-TTS-no-content-480_272

I'm running the 480x272 on my Speed3 double din using this in the sys.txt:

[Interface]
show_exit=1
resolution_dir="480_272"
extra_settings=1
vga=0

[Rawdisplay]
highres=0
screen_x=480
screen_y=272
stretch=1

It is a little bit simpler in the layout and loads considerably quicker. Use the same content as the primo.
