Mio devices has no software death only hardware damages.
Just too bad he did not hit the right position.
Shorting the pins is the last resort.
Wrong contact - your unit has to go to service centre.

I agree with that: "Shorting the pins is the last resort". but as I see it is the last resort. unless he doesn't need the pc connection. i can not think of any thing else I know of that can help him to regain pc connection.

This is a long shot but it *might* work...

On Windows Mobile \Storage Card\2577\Autorun.exe is executed when a storage card is inserted.

I cannot make it work on my device but it's your last chance so give it a go...

Unrar the folder 2577 and copy to the root of a SD Card, Reboot your device, Try removing and reinserting the card.

If it works you'll see Total Commander.

Fingers crossed :dash3:

On Mio Moov - After removing and putting back the sdcard - it will be somehow invalid.
Some applications will not be recognized by system.

Swopping sdscards might not work. Any way it is a good try.

After removing and putting back the sdcard it will be recognized as "sdcard2". to make it be recognize as" sdcard" you can connect it to pc (and i know holyland can't now) or reset the device few times and wait few moments and the turn it on again.

It's a long shot mind, It depends whether your WinCE core supports autorun, The folder 2577 is for the Arm series of processors, They're by far the most common, If your device has a different type of processor you'll need to rename the folder, This is unlikely though. Good luck :)

That would be a feature of the Mio software which isn't loading, The \2577\autorun.exe is a core feature of Windows mobile with ARM processors, Windows mobile is based on Windows CE so i'm hoping that feature has not been removed from their WinCE core.
