Loading screen for iGO8 and probably Primo

Fri Mar 30, 2012 8:27 pm

I've created a different loading.bmp for iGO in the most popular resolutions - 480_272 and 800_480. You can find out how to use them here http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?9475-How-to-change-loading-screen-in-iGO Primo can be found in the data.zip in the ui_igo9 folder. Scroll down to the loading.bmp.

Important: It is important to backup your data.zip and branding.zip from the original program on your SD card BEFORE attempting any editing. You would also delete the save folder but I also suggest backing it up first. It's possible that you will receive an error message after doing the change. Therefore, all you have to do to return to where it was before is to copy back the data.zip and the branding.zip you have previously backed up to the folder on your SD card. You also may want to copy back the save folder.

Loading.bmp is for res 800_480 and loading1.bmp is for res 480_272. Rename loading1.bmp to loading.bmp.

Thanks for the update! Wish others would follow your lead.

Why not create a complete version with you mods?
Upload it with basic sys.txt and a text file containing most of the other entries of the sys.txt.
I think most users would appreciate a modded and complete version, maybe even with some nice voices ;)
Just a thought though...

Thanks for the suggestion DU. I thought about doing just that but then I thought that some members might only want the default screen so I left it as their choice but I still posted my edits with the tutorial and left the decision up to the individual.

You forget about the beginners and noobs that would certainly appreciate a full version with some voices, knowing that it is working and that only the sys.txt might need some minor changes.
I know from the backups I uploaded for TT that they seem to find some friends.
Within a few days I had over 1000 download for my fan edition ;)

You are quite correct. That is why I uploaded my iGO8 program from my device because Navitotal is the ONLY forum to have this program which contains my modified voices http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-5-2011 plus Navitotal is the ONLY forum to have my Primo 1.1 program which also contains my modified voices http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?5500-November-Primo-1.1-from-my-device Our Yurbuh Tuggly has also uploaded Primo 2.0 for the members.

Hence, a member can download and install whichever program he prefers and then can modify the startup screen if he/she also prefers.

Congratulations on doing a fine job. I'm sure that a few members are having a problem with error messages such as unable to load the loading.bmp. Perhaps you could write a post explaining what you did - step by step. Please write it so it could be understood by ALL. Thanks.

MAKE A BACK UP

Re the above post this is how I did it on Primo2 with 800 x 480 res
Down load "loading.bmp" as in post #1 above ,or choose any picture you like and change the size to 800 x 480.if you use your own picture save it as loading.bmp
Plug in sat nav to pc and go to Primo2/ui_igo9/800_480.
find file "loading.bmp" right click on it and then cut.paste it to a folder on your pc in case you need it later.
Get the loading.bmp that you downloaded from post#1 and put it into Primo2/ui_igo9/800_480.
Or if you don't want to save the original loading.bmp just overwrite it with the new one.
Un plug unit switch off, then switch on and hey presto new loading screen.
Before you do any of the above MAKE A BACK UP.

I've created another set of loading.bmps that I use on my device. I'm sure that you'll like them.

As before, loading.bmp is for 800_480 and loading1.bmp is for 480_272. Rename loading1.bmp to loading.bmp.

Some of you are having trouble because you are getting an error message that the loading.bmp cannot be loaded and is therefore exiting the application. Yurbuh Tuggly came up with the solution.

"Instead of messing with data/branding.zip, you could try making a folder in the root, ui_igo8, in that a folder 480_272, in that a folder skin_night. Put the loading.bmp (and exiting.bmp if you use one) in the 480_272 folder and the skin_night folder.
If iGo8 operates like Primo 1.x or 2, it will use the ui_igo8 (ui_igo9 for Primo) folder for those images first before data or branding.zip. You can just delete any other loading.bmp's in the zip files (using Winrar). Uncompressing, then recompressing either data.zip or branding.zip never works."
