One last thing guys (and thanks) :-)

I have been curious about the speedcam folder being completely empty?
I`ve read you need a sat lock to activate it and the ,spd and spbd? files are written by the sat nav? but should`nt there be a txt file in there?
If so could you point me to a download for the file for the UK please :-) (for the Igo Primo2/binatone download discussed above)
Thanking you :-)

In my content pack I linked you to there was a speedcam .txt file.

Also a sat lock is required before you can turn on the alerts.

In the file I downloaded (next time.rar) there were two folders (Map and Poi) and a jpeg pic but no text files?

Again, the instructions said to download the generic pack and one other.

The speedcam.txt is in the generic pack.

My bad :-/ I just downloaded the Navteq (next time) and not the generic (game time).
Done now :-) and speedcam text is in its folder.

I have Dem/buildings/histspeed etc downloaded, do I just create folders in content for these as there are none showing?

Thanks again for your patience.

Wow, I'm surprised you've found it this hard. I have a Binatone F430. Cracking little device and very easy to work on. Plus very very good Sat nav performance.

I never found it hard Skezza, I found it "New" :-)

I have never even used a sat nav before, never used any SD cards or a card reader, don`t own a mobile phone and my computer is 13 years old running no AV so I`m very careful about what I download.

The reason it took me so long is that I didn`t do it in a logical sequence...
Eg..download and extract Pri24BD.rar, download, extract generic (game time) .rar and then download and extract Navteq maps (prime time) .rar
Put files in the correct folders and create them in content\ if they are not there.

If someone had put it to me like that it would have been a lot quicker :-)

However it would have been impossible without the help of FF and Chas so my thanks to them :-)

Well I am totally amazed and gobsmacked! :-)

The sat nav arrived an hour ago so I`ve charged it up and ran through the factory settings to check it was working. It is brand new in the box so i didn`t have any concerns about that but you never know and it`s better to check.
All good :-)
So I switched it off and plugged in the SD card and switched it back on.
What do you know...it only bloody works!! Everything is there including the voices i selected from the extracted rar, good GPS lock and all the bells and whistles :-)
Now you guys might not be surprised as you`ve probably done it a hundred times but I am! As far as I`m aware all I`ve done is download (slowly) some programs, extracted them with the wrong program (Winzip instead of Winrar which I later downloaded) and shuffled some files into some folders on my slow and cranky old pc :-)
I have new software and a much more versatile sat nav :-) including the ability to update maps etc without dealing with a poor customer service :-)

Thanks guys, you rock!

See it wasn't that hard, The Binatone F430 is an excellent little device.

Also pulling the card out and rebooting puts the device back to it's original condition.

You can also install Garmin XT if it takes your fancy? On my old Binatone F430, I had Garmin, iGo Primo, and of course the naff OEM software. I wrote a nice little software selector in C++ so I could pick when I turned the device ;)

Thanks Skezza, that`s nice to know but I think I`ll get used to using a sat nav first ;-) Just did a test run and it found my address with no problem, unlike the many couriers that complain my address is not on their sat navs :-)

Has anyone tried "piggy backing" another Li-ion battery onto one of these units to give it extended power when not plugged in?
I use E-cigs and have several Li-ion 3.7v batteries upto 2950mah.
The default is only 950mah and i would like to use it in pedestrian mode as well as on my Mocycle :-)
I could always adapt the bike and fit a cigarette lighter socket somewhere inconspicuous but I would like a stand alone unit with more capacity.

Great question.

Firstly, the battery in them is surprisingly good. 950mAh on GPS isn't bad y'know? We had a weekend Road Trip round Wales using one and we only had to plug it in for the last hour on the way back. So yeah, don't write off the internal battery before really putting it through it's paces.

Secondly, they're just USB charged aren't they? You could easily buy a clip on USB battery which can provide anything up to the amount you're quoting from your E-cig. This would cost only a few pounds.

Thirdly, If you're really nuts, you could hack in a battery from another phone. You would need to remove the back cover and buy something like a Samsung Galaxy S1/S2 or S3 Battery, take two wires from the positive/negative (NO WIRE FROM THE SMART TERMINAL OR YOU'LL HAVE PROBLEMS!!) and then, run it flat and full charge. This should work and has been proven to work on phones such as the Nexus 4. You need to check the internal voltage of the Binatone F430 though as these batteries run at approx 3.8v.

If you do the third, make sure you take some photos ;)

Some interesting ideas there Skezza :-)

I happen to have a couple of Li-ions from my Nokia here (BL-5C).... the BinatoneF430 is 3.7v 950mah, the Nokias are 3.7v 1020mah.
One of those piggy backed would double the "non charging status" life.
The outer two connectors on the Nokias are pos and neg with the centre being smart.
So thats a starting point :-)

I have never heard of a USB battery!!! (shows how niave I am!) so I`m just off to Google and have quick look see on Fleabay :-)

Thanks, you live and learn! :-)

A quick Google reveals all :-)

Yes a USB battery, I know them as a PCC in the Ecig world, charge it up and when you ciggie goes flat plug it in and it recharges without the need for mains (or computer usb) power.

PCC = Personal Charging Case :-)

Hmmm.. not cheap for a good High capacity one, I have the storage capacity in the Nokia batteries, can charge them using a spare phone I have but its a question of how I configure the connectors to make it work :-/
I need to rig a supply via mini usb from the battery to the mini usb on the Binatone.

BTW I`m much happier playing with the hardware than the software :-)

I can tell!

I'd love to see this done successfully!!
