igo9.ini versus sys.txt

Sun Aug 29, 2010 4:33 pm

Hi there,
I'm using iGO Primo 1.1 in combination with TTS Loq.
In data.zip\project_config\igo9.ini a lot of settings are preset e.g. for speedcam sounds and speech.
No my question is: is it possible to overrule the instructions set in this igo.ini file by giving other instructions in igo's sys.txt ?

iGO8 settings are in this order : http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?962-How-To-s-Tutorials-and-Tweaks&p=2469#post2469
Primo should use the same or similar order.

Primo sy.txt lines are here: http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?2624-Primo-Sys.txt-lines&p=13068#post13068

OK thanks, so only settings in sys.txt that are not in data.zip will eventually 'survive' in the end, and settings in data.zip can only be manipulated by changing the igo9.ini itself ?

That is not how I read that post by Chas521/Rafke.
Clearly, as said in that post and from my experience, sys.txt settings override every other setting, also those in igo.ini.

You are possibly confused because that post is in 2 parts.
In the first part is described where iGO looks for a certain file.
example : the loadings screen: first iGo looks in the root, then in skin.zip, then in branding.zip, then in data.zip. The first loading screen iGO finds, it uses to start up. Since it's not in the root, it is in the skin or in the branding.zip. Simple. Install a skin (diMKA is a good choice for this) and look for yourself.
In the second part is described where igo looks for settings. Sys.txt comes first and overrides every other setting that follows.
A good tip is to add in sys.txt the [device] header and the name of your device if available in data.zip/config/devices. This way, sys.txt calls preset settings.
