igo9.ini speedcam parameter: min_frc

igo9.ini speedcam parameter: min_frc

Postby skynet66 » Tue Jan 15, 2013 9:29 pm

Hi everybody,

I've tried to change that with different values such as -1,0,1,3,5 but I haven't noticed any difference on speedcam behaviour. So have you ever had experiences on that so as to understand what is the function tied to it?

Thanks.

There is no official documentation for the sys.txt entries, so it's anyone's guess as to what it does.

Are you trying to fix a problem?

Damn it, I know. No documentation is a big issue :(

I don't understand your question... it is not a problem, my conf works fine both on approach messages and on alarm triggers, but that parameter is there and nothing happen when I modify it.

If the parameter is there, and it is for any speedcam, it has to do something... but what?

Not necessarily, the speedcams work fine without all these extra entries. Some people think more is better regarding the sys.txt, it may have nothing to do with the speedcams.

Thank you for following this,

I just want to go one step ahead in that:

This is a piece of code from an original igo9.ini related to cat1 and cat2...

Code: Select all
;                                     S P E E D C A M - C A T : 1
[speedcam_category:1]
activated_spoken_type=speech
activated_speech="Mobile speed camera ahead."

approach_beep_distances=150
approach_beep_spoken_type=speech
approach_beep_speech="Mobile speed camera."

overspeed_spoken_type=speech
overspeed_speech="Reduce your speed."
overspeed_min_speech_repeat_delay=10

min_frc=-1
use_road_speedlimit=1

;                                     S P E E D C A M - C A T : 2
[speedcam_category:2]
activated_spoken_type=speech
activated_speech="Speed camera ahead."

approach_beep_distances=150
approach_beep_spoken_type=speech
approach_beep_speech="Speed camera."

overspeed_spoken_type=speech
overspeed_speech="Reduce your speed."
overspeed_min_speech_repeat_delay=10

min_frc=5
use_road_speedlimit=1

well, let's analyze it:

activated = we know that.. this speech is activated when the distance is in the range specified in speedcam distance config.

approach = that's in meter, e.g. if you have an activation distance of 700m you'll have that speech every 700-150, 700-150-150, 700-150-150-150 and so on.

overspeed = if you are continuosly in overspeed, you'll have that speech every 10 seconds.

now, put your attention to the min_frc, cat1=-1, cat2=5, that must be related to the speedcam cat, what else?

use_road_speedlimit: if 1 the speed indicator inside the speedcam popup will be shown and computed, the speedlimit will be get from speedcam files if exists, else will be get from speedlimit of the road. If 0 the speed indicator inside the speedcam popup will not shown and will not computed (so none of alarm will be generated as a warning)

I did several tests on that... and the dark side remains min_frc :)

There are a lot of sys.txt entries that don't appear to do anything, does removing it entirely change anything?

To tell you the truth, no. I have not removed it yet. I Will that when I'm doing next tests. I guess none of differences will be.

You may find it has nothing to do speedcams, someone in the past (who may not entirely know what they were doing) may have added it, and it's just stuck.
