iGO8.3 POI icon pack - POI don't show

Postby Fatboyfun » Mon Oct 25, 2010 10:18 pm

The only thing i can add to this thread is... Where did you get the POI icon from? It's possible that they're the wrong resolution or format for iGO, Tomtom POI icons have to be (or be between) a certain resolution or you get red squares. Try using a known working icon renamed for Tim Hortons to see where the problem lies.

Can you use any other icon for Tim Hortons? Maybe a pre-installed one and/or one you've installed yourself...

Can you search for Tim Hortons and navigate there?

Right the only thing i can think of now is maybe the Tim Horton POI file is looking for a specific POI icon file that does not exist, You may need to open the POI file with notepad or POIEdit and look for any reference to an icon, Note the file name and rename your existing icon to match, While you're at it, look at the file of a POI that does work with it's icon and see if there's any reference to an icon that's missing from Tim Hortons, Failing that, Start again by downloading fresh versions of both files, Backup then delete your save directory and see if you can make it work then.

Can't change icon of KML POI's [SOLVED]

Postby eskro » Tue Oct 26, 2010 1:07 am

Oh my...
Finally....
this madness is over :)
Now it may be important to make this fix sticky!!

Problem was, this file --> klmpoi.icon
it auto-assigns an icon to KML poi's...
and in my case, it was Google Earth's Globe...

Now to stop it from doing that,
just rename klmpoi.icon to klmpoi.icon.bak or just delete it....
This way,
u can manually change the icon of KML poi's with the icon of your choice!!!

Steps:
======
Open your DATA.zip with Winrar
now browse to --> ui_igo8\icons\poi <or> ui_igo8_da\icons\poi
and now u should see a file called klmpoi.icon
delete it or rename it to klmpoi.icon.old
thats it!
EnJoY!!!

Now that it's solved, I will close the thread.

@ Eskro Don't open a new thread every time you make changes to your iGO settings!!! :crazy:
