Igo8 Loqendo tts speed warnings.

Postby Wattie777 » Wed Oct 10, 2012 3:13 pm

I am using igo 8.3.4 TTS voices Loquendo Kate v3 which is great as i now have pronounced street names. My problem is getting her to announce speed camera warnings. I have tried many different sys.txt settings but i think i am using nuance setting or a combination of settings and as you have guessed got myself confused.

this is my current sys I would be very grateful if someone with much better knowledge than me guide me to getting Kate to speak. (The speed cam data i got from pioplasa)

At present it shows the speed camera icon on the map and then bleep bleep bleep as i approach which is driving me crazy i am not fused what she says, just a simple "speed camera Ahead" or something.

Hope you can help

Many thanks in advance
Dave

As far as I can remember (it's been a while) iGO 8 does not use TTS for speedcam announcements, you need to use a skin and the speedcam voice pack, these were recorded voices, but there were several to choose from.

No, you need skins for iGO 8.3

I recommend kikker3.2 as it's simple in operation, but includes everything you need, the dimka skin just makes things overly complicated.

You will also need the ultra speed camera voices, and you might need to change data.zip, give me half hour or so and I'll provide links, my phone is about to die...

Kikker 3.2 skin + UK audio files - [Please Register or Login to download file]

4819
Random Google image search for example.

Make a full backup of the entire iGO installation before you start!!!

Note: {iGO8} referrers to the folder where the main .exe is!

UnRAR the archive and put the kikker3.2.zip file in the {iGO8}\Content\Skin folder, Do not unzip!
Copy the Audio folder to the {iGO8} folder

Restart iGO8

Go to Menu -> Settings (Page 2/2) -> Menu -> Skin
Select kikker 3.2
Exit from the menu and restart iGO8

Go to Menu -> Settings -> Warnings
Tick Speed Camera Warning
Tap the ... icon next to Speed Camera Warning
Audible Warning is the beeps
Voice Alert should be Male or Female

Tap the right arrow in the bottom right to go to page 2/2
Adjust the volume to maximum and you can test the voice alerts to see if they're working.

If everything is working then exit from the menu, If no voice is heard, check iGO8's volume levels and then double check the Audio folder placement.

If you get an "Unable to open file XXX.xxx" error, then you need a different data.zip

I take it it's all working..?

Also you'll find many more options to play with, I recommend making a backup before you start playing, just in case you change and break something.

Happy navigating :)

I guess that you didn't see this thread http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-5-2011

EDIT: You will need a satellite lock to see the warning option.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.
