IGO Primo POI problems

Postby mrbricolage » Thu May 03, 2012 3:18 pm

Hi

I have just obtained a Chinese sat nav with IGO Primo (what version I am unsure). I have added an ACSI campsite POI collection in kml format in the \content\userdata\poi folder and it has created the other two files necessary for Primo to use them.

However I want them to appear as ACSI POI's within Primo. The only way I have managed to get them to display is to enable them in Map display > Place Markers. Then they are called GPS device and sub menu Waypoints.

I would like to associate them with the campsite icon and rename them as ACSI. How do I do that?

Thanks in advance

Is nobody able to help? I was told by another member that this was the place to go if you had problems with IGO

I think perhaps nobody is exactly sure of what you are trying to accomplish, and this:

does not help.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

What is the filename of the poi?

Because when I add custom poi's to Primo it's listed under it's filename.

Settings -> Map settings -> Place markers

And to navigate to them it's...

Find -> Find places -> Custom search -> Around here/In a town

Yurbuh - It says IGO Primo when it boots, but I do not know where to find the version number. I thought that telling you the version number may help you in assisting me.
What am I trying to acomplish? I have downloaded a POI which tells me where ACSI campsites are. The file name is ACSICampsite-EU. Is the filename too long?
I placed them into the correct folder and IGO has recognised them but it has called them GPS device/Waypoints with a blank blue bubble as the icon. What I would like to do is associate them with a category and an icon. Does that make sense? Or do I have to start using the branding zip file for this?

Yes, this is the place to come. Smart person, that other member
but we are - unpaid - volunteers, not on line 24/7. We have a family, a job, ... a life. An instant answer isn't the general rule ;)

As Yurbuh Tuggly says, I do not completely understand the question.
Am I wrong or are your POI's shown as a route (waypoints), not as POI's?

Edit:
your latest answer is more clear. Not a route but as an unknown POI. You want to associate the camping icon to the "waypoint", not a simple blue bubble. Correct?

A couple ways to do that...and it may or may not be significant to your solution, but TOO MUCH info is rarely a bad thing:)

On your PC, you can right click the EXE and go to Properties->Details and it will show both Product Version and File Version (we will know which Primo from this).
Or, on the device, go to Settings (from main start screen, More, then scroll sideways to Help (tap) About (tap). That will give the full version number and the date.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Yes you are right THIS is the place to get help and you will be amazed at the time and trouble other members go to to help others out.But as others have said it will take time as all are unpaid volunteers.
Stick with it it WILL get sorted.

My apologies of course I realise you all have families private lives, etc. However it was the number of views versus zero replies. Perhaps a simple sorry we dont understand your question would have sufficed. I have a family as well and a personal life so I know where you guys are coming from.

If I look in Find -> Find places -> Custom search -> Around here/In a town. I then apply the filter ACSI and it shows the POI's however the blue bubble is blank. I would like it to display a campsite icon or even better display the ACSI symbol.

If I look in Settings -> Map settings -> Place markers then there is a blank blue bubble called GPS device and in side that is Waypoints. Are these created because I added in the ACSI POI or is that something else?

The number of views include everyone, thus all human and other visitors to the site that looked at your post. It don't tell anything about the knowledge of that person or robot. :)

The blue bubble is a standard general icon for non defined POI. What you need to do is to connect an icon to the ACSI database point so it's recognized as -here- a camping. I know it can be done (at least in iGO8) but do not know by heart the howto. I have too look it up. Possibly someone else can give the answer more quickly?

If you go here:
:link:
and look in this section:
European full color POI Add-On Packs Updated Specifically for Primo 2.x:

You can download a pack (if your resolution is covered) and, by looking at the file structure, learn a LOT about how 'custom icons' can be shown.
I don't know if your particular Campsite POI's are included or not, but they might be.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Yes, following that link and reading the way to do it rings a bell. It's (about) the same in iGO8.

OK had a look and my file structure is not like

Copy everything inside this ui_igo9 folder to a folder of the same name in your main Primo2 folder...{Primo2}/UI_IGO9/

I have a Primo folder and there are the following folders: content, license, save, tts_loq plus the zipped branding and data folders.

So where does this go?

mrbricolage wrote:So where does this go?

Exactly where it says.
Under the main Primo folder, copy and place the entire UI_igo9 folder.
So it is like this:
{Main Primo Folder}
>branding.zip
>data.zip
>sys.txt
>Content (folder)
>License (folder)
>Save (folder)
>Whatever other subfolders, etc (folders)
>UI_IGO9 (folder)

PS. UPPER or lower case letters make no difference
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.
