Igo primo 2.4 poi not avilable

Postby imhk » Thu Jun 06, 2013 4:16 am

I was running IGO PRIMO 2 for a while and everything was fine. Lately I upgraded to IGO PRIMO 2.4. I practically replaced the .exe file and the data.zip files leaving all other files as they were. I am using the same branding.zip file that I had with PRIMO 2 for branded POI. Everything seems running well except POI. Ever since I upgraded to IGO 2.4, whenever I go to map setting and select PLACE MARKERS, it only shows FAVOURITE, MY PICTURES, MY POI and two CUSTOM POIs which I included through kml files. There is no trace of bunch of others POI categoires which used to be there and are available in the POI folder. I even tried using Stancy branding.zip but experienced the same problem. When I tried to use FIND command and then FIND PLACES, it did not show anything outside of the few categories said earlier.

Will anyone be able to advice if he/she had any such experience or where thing could possibly go wrong. I am completely puzzled.

Thanks so much for your help.

Did you remove or rename the folder save and made a "fresh" start?
Pls try this first.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Actually POI folder was available and wiping off SAVE folder did not help either. After wiping off SAVE folder, it would not even start. The progress bar would go to the end and then keep thinking forever. Apparently Primo 2.4 had an issuue with the branding.zip file that was used for Primo 2. Using the branding.zip from stancy worked fine with all the POI categories showing but it was too big and heavy. I had to rework on a smaller branding ZIP from Stancy's. I removed all but a few of the bmp+spr files and the relevant entries in the .icons files. I then inserted a couple of hundred custom icons that I already had in the common folder and added those in the .icons files. These icons were no longer pre-assigned. Finally I used DIMKA 1.70 skin to manually assign icons to each of the catogories. The branding.zip file is now much smaller and everything worked out smoothly. Thanks to Stancy.

The bmp and spr files are in the "common" folder.
The poi.icons file is attached as a ZIP file.

Thanks

If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

POIs are usually a built-in by the map maker. I think you have to turn on place markers in the map setting.

Yes i tried that. The list is empty when i click on Map settings --- > place markers. Also in the main screen when i click on Destination --- > Find Places , No POI categories are enabled.

obviously you have no additionnal branding with branded posi so no wonder you see nothing
you have the original data so you can see only poi catégories with blue icons . But for that you must go to place markers and enabled what you want
but you seem have nothing so i think you have some personnal files poi.icons somewhére. whére?
what is your igo structure ?

most of branding primo 2.0 are in fact développement of igo8
so some basic precisions
- some put folder ui_igo9 at igo root i don't see the benefit
- in folder branding/ui_igo9/icons/poi you need files xx.icons
now let look inside file poi.icons from imhk

[Accommodation]
$poi_mapdistant.bmp
$poi_mapclose.spr 30
$poi_mapclose.spr 30
$poi_group.spr 30
$poi_disabled.spr 30
that means YOU NEED in folder branding/ui_igo9/common mapdistant.bmp poi_mapclose.bmp and poi_mapclose.spr poi_group.bmp and poi_group.spr
poi_disabled.bmp and poi_disabled.spr

NB now primo 2.4 works with single files .bmp its more simple to manage the format

[Automotive.Petrol_Station]
$poi_mapdistant.bmp
poi_mapclose_050.bmp
poi_mapclose_050.bmp
poi_mapclose_050.bmp
poi_disabled_050.bmp
