Igo 8.3.5, diMka skin and speed cam alerts

:chok_mini::chok_mini:Now I am baffled ! :confused::confused:
I checked my skin and it is GJ6.18p_da
Is the voice selected?
What voice have you selected? An iGO6 or iGO ultra sound? (on the page of the selectable voices is a button to change this)

:) Don't be baffled, there is no doubt that something here is weird.
I'm using the "Gurjon" you noted as "this is the one I use".

Here is how the screen looks in both skins for "Warning settings:
5257

After taping the [..] for "Speed camera warning" screen shots:
In Gurjon:
5258
Only 2 setting options:
(I wonder how/why the next option is changed by language used)
Audible Warning -
(Using English as main laguage) Only When Speeding / While Approaching / Off
(Using Hebrew as main language) Off/Simple/Full sound
Visible Warning - On / Off
No other options for choosing audible type of voice.

In Dimka:
5259
There is a screen full of options to choose from, including "iGO6 or iGO ultra sound". Both working for me, so I guess that folders/files are in correct path.

I have been away the last week, so I did not see this last reply until now.

May I ask what did you do with the EXTENSION folder that is included in the download?
In it is an extension for speedcams. I know I did install it years ago (2009 or so :D ) so I don't even remember what it does do or does not do. Maybe that is the solution? And I do believe (not 100% sure, it's been a while) that the extensions are the same in Gurjon and diMKa, meaning that the extensions can function on both. You only need the extension folder and the extension (complete!) sub folders you want.

Welcome back.

Until now, I had the "EXTENSION" folder (and its sub-folders) inside my "/content/skin/" folder. Reasonable, isn't it?
After reading your last post, I wonder what is wrong here. The conclusion was that maybe I need to move this folder.

First try was to move it to the root of the "iGO8" folder, and BINGO, all settings pop up in the speedcamera warning. :clapping_mini::clapping_mini:

I'll check how it works on the way home, and will update here.

Thanks again.

The Gurjon skin behaves the same as the diMka skin, I get both, audio and the beep.
I have set your settings to it, I can test the audio voices (red-light camera, speed camera, mobile camera etc), but "on the road" I get the annoying beep as well.
In addition, during the way home, the program crashed twice, failing to open poi_*something* file. If it will happend again, I'll write down the exact wording and file name.
Thanks

Also tell us what device.

And a thought (that I posted before, in fact) : can you test the voice files outside iGO - like on your PC?
Just think: we are searching and searching and the beep is recorded simultaneously with the voice.:rolling:

I'm using a [Please Register or Login to download file] , 5.0" screen, 4GB AVI/RM 500MHz, WINCE6.0. Great value for its price, IMO.

I did test the voice files, just after I've downloaded them from the net, to check if this is what I'm looking for. No beep included in any of them.
In fact, the beep starts a bit before the audio sound, but this is (probably) because of distance settings. As getting closer to the threat the beep becomes more frequency. But this is normal, even without using the aoudio files.

After breakfast, with clear mind, I'll go over your settings again, to check if I missed any.

Thanks.

Open up the data.zip, go to the audio folder, these are the sound effects that iGO uses, I think sectionstartb.wav is the offending beep, try replacing it with a silent wav of the same frequency etc...

All settings are like nabi's.

I was searching the "extension" folder. Under SpeedCams sub-folder I came across a file named "SpeedCams_var.ui". Inside it I found the tag:"
<var bSpeedcamBeep=1 registermodel permanent>
I changes it to
<var bSpeedcamBeep=0 registermodel permanent>
But this changed nothing.

Fatboyfun wrote:...try replacing it with a silent wav of the same frequency etc...

I used a tool called "GoldWave" to reduce the volume to 0% in "!sectionbeepA.wav" & "!sectionbeepB.wav". I used Winrar (4.01) to replace this 2 files in data.zip. I check how this 2 files function within Driver Alerts and it was fine, silence.
The surprise was that in speedcam alerts no audio nor beep heard. Can it be that I disrupt the "data.zip" nevertheless?
I went back to the speedcam audio test, and all different alerts heard ok, So I don't have an idea what's next.

I'm on my way to give up :wallbash:
Does anyone know about a good GPS ablactation process? My wife think that I need it :)

I would just replace the wav with a silent one, just in case the volume =0 is affecting the overall volume.

How do I create/get an empty one?
Should it be same length (not size) as the original one?

Just record nothing in sound recorder, then use something like audacity to clip it to the same length, frequency, bitrate, then replace it in the archive.

I don't have the ability to record my own wav file.
Since I want to check if the beep is coming from a seperate file, I replaced the following files:
!sectionbeepA.wav
!sectionbeepB.wav
!sectionstartA.wav
!sectionstartB.wav
All this 4 files makes similar beep, so I replaced them with the "!button.wav" file (copied 4 times, 1 for each file).

Now, when I approach a speed camera, I get a "button" sound and the audio voice together.
This makes clear that my audio files are not infected.

I've delete my save folder and setup all settings from scratch. I keep getting both, sound and audio.

A silent file sounds like the only solution for me with this problem. I'll have to find out how to replace it without making the archive faulty.
