Just exchange the branding.zip with the one in the download. You will now have over 2600 icons. Delete the old branding.zip and copy/paste the new one. Don't just overwrite the old one.

Getting it now. After downloading one part I need to navigate away from the post then come back to get another part. How odd. Your last post you mention has two downloads. The first says some mpg file and the 2nd is an error message that the file is missing.

That's strange. Versend worked for me but it's slow right now. A lot of people are using it right now I guess. Did you press "download this file?"

OK got it all and unzipped. I need to nip out so ill try this when I get back. What I did do was use your branding zip on the desktop version of igo8 and was getting the same problem. Yes I can change the icon and it looks as if its changed just fine but when I go to the location on the map it shows a totally different icon. Now I changed my McDonalds KML files and the Restaurant icons and this is happening to both so it cant be my kml files. Anyway, need to go and ill tell you how I get on with the updated igo.

Cheers

You probably need to delete the old save folder. And also need to delete those McDonald files and folders so that the program is as just you downloaded it with the basic files/folders. They're probably conflicting.

Go to the menu in iGO 8.3, manage, POI, sub-sections will appear, [let's use McDonald's as an example], in restaurant sub-section go to fast food, scroll down to McDonald's, choose edit, at bottom of page is the blue icon, press it and pages of new icons will appear, choose the one for McDonald's and the icon will now appear on your map. At the McDonald's edit page, choose "medium" for when you see the restaurant on the map.

^^ All of that. Just found you had sub POI's by accident. All done and working now as they should and without the McDonalds KML files. Now I know I have asked this before but I cant find my old post. How do I get my arrow back as your blue car looks nothing like mine :) Also waste land. In the 8.3.5.163522 build the waste land is green. This later one its yellow. Is changing this back to green a simple setting in the sys text file?

Again :)

BTW my older igo8 has not long came up with an error message

to open the file
gfx/day/sky.4bmp
exiting application

Now it never had a gfx folder but I had used the save folder from another SD card with the later igo. Would that have caused the error? I just copied the gfx folder also and it seems fine.

Do not use a save folder from another program. Each program uses its own save folder. A proper save is created each time you properly enter/exit the program.

Banging my head to make a kml file use an icon in the userdata/usericon folder. I edited my .kml file (in /userdata/poi folder) inserting the line:
<metadata><igoicon><filename>CDN-RBCBranch.bmp</filename></igoicon></metadata>

I can see the POI under Map Settings/ Place Markers and have the option to choose an icon (can choose from lots of icons), but that one won't show... no matter what. I have lots of icons in that folder and don't even know if those are the ones showing. Why is it that WINDOWS can't open most BMP files from IGO zipped folders?
BTW, Galaxy S3, Dimka skin.

iGO used compressed bitmaps, use software like ipaq31xtools (I think) to decompress the image for editing, then recompress it to be used.
Currently sleeping...
