Let's look at this logically. You're using the same iGO8 program that I'm using. You downloaded my program and made no major changes. I deleted the branding zip that came with my program download. Replaced it with the branding.zip download from this thread. My copy/paste worked perfectly. Yours didn't. Why would that be? Did you open the branding.zip from this thread or did you keep it in a zipped format? Should stay zipped.

I'm only asking because it mystifies me.

Can not be anything wrong with data.zip because its fine when I put back the old branding.zip.....or maybe am wrong here...!

I didn't open the zip file...! answer to post 32

I'd like to try something else here. It may not work but it's worth a shot.

In the newly downloaded branding.zip, in the ui_igo8 folder are two files - common and icons. I want you to copy/paste those folders into my branding.zip - also in the ui_igo8 folder of the old branding.zip.

Make sure the old b.zip is backed up.

Let me say this before one gives up on it...!
The satnav is working fine, the problem with it is....when you goto menu-manage-poi-mypoi-edit now at the bottom of the screen you will see a icon which you should be able to change, but when you do change the icon and go back onto map, the icon is the same, ie the old one.

Mon Jun 17, 2013 10:04 pm

In the new (unzip) folder there are two folders 1 common which has three items in a night folder a poi poiplaza gtb and a poi poiplaza gtb.spr but in the your folder there are many more files, in the other folder called icons there is a poi folder. you want me to delete them and replace with the new ones ..yes.?

I understood right from the beginning. No one is giving up. When you choose the manage poi, did you first select the category? When you touch the small category box, it puts a black mark in the box. The you can select the name brands in the sub-category and then change the icon.

Let me edit #37 somewhat.

1. Go to manage
2. Choose POI
3. Choose category
4. Choose sub-category
5. Press sub-category, choose name
6. Press edit
7. Choose viewing distance
8. Press back arrow
9. Name will now have a black dot in the box
10. Choose edit in the name
11. Press third black box at the bottom to show icons
12. New icon will now appear

There is also a new category option.

Anyway got a bit late last night, so here is the update. took all the software off the sd card and the copy your software (chas521) again back on it, had done all of the above and still I could not see the icon that I wanted on the map.
The icon that I would like to have is the second one on 1/39 (petrol pump) the one I am always getting after setting the icon is the one one 39/39 its the only one on 39 poi icon appearance.
I am now getting to a point where am pulling my hair out, so will soon give up on this one, its becoming a right pain.

Did you try post #38? As for transferring from one branding.zip to the other branding.zip. All I want you to try is to [back up the old one from my program first] copy from the newly downloaded b.zip [in the ui_igo8 folder] the folders common and icon only. Then delete the common folder in the old b.zip from the ui_igo8 folder and paste the new common and icon folders from the first one. That's the b.zip I want you to try and use.

EDIT: Maybe it's this. Where you are is called "petrol". The branding.zip doesn't say petrol as a category - I think that is. Look under "gas stations" or something like that. Open the category and look for the names of the stations you frequent and change the icon[s] to what you want.

Tue Jun 18, 2013 12:35 pm

Yes I did do what you said in post 38 that is when am getting the ffui error.
I am calling them petrol station because its a google kml file called GB-petrol station.

Tue Jun 18, 2013 12:42 pm

Instead of using Google, why not just use the icons in the new branding.zip. You should find what you need. If you don't for some reason, I have another one with over 2000 new icons.

Tue Jun 18, 2013 1:10 pm

Ok maybe getting somewhere... this time no error, google kml GB-petrol stations are showing with the icon (earth) which it should be, now in manage poi I have folders but no sub folders, only one is working and thats google kml's, I know that I have in poi folder UK NQ_2011.Q1_110321.poi but this is not showing in the manage poi, so at this moment in time I can't say if the icon problem is still there.

Tue Jun 18, 2013 1:11 pm

See post #42. I put the 2000+ icon branding.zip on my program and I now have 34 pages of icons. I'm now wondering if your Google stuff is causing a conflict with my program?

Tue Jun 18, 2013 1:14 pm

Because I can update the ones in Google myself, there are alot of stations around me that are no longer here...! I also would like to have my coal mines showing which are Google kml's which I go out and find then put them onto google earth.
