How to Increase volume in Primo 1.2

Tue Jan 03, 2012 12:41 am

Never had an issue with this until I recently got a new in car 2 din. Primo (and iGO8 ) voices are too low with no setting to adj separately the levels in the unit.

Voices are set on max in Primo.

All ref in sys.ini are at 255

[sound]
alert_volume="255"
dynamic_volume_maxspeed="120"
dynamic_volume_minspeed="60"
dynamic_volume_os_amplification_step="5306150"
dynamic_volume_type="1"
dynamic_volume_voice_volume_max="63"
dynamic_volume_voicemaxspeed="0"
effect_volume="255"
media_volume="255"
os_muted="0"
os_volume="255"
voice_volume="255"

In sys.txt ive tried (made no difference)

[dynamiccompressor]
compressor=1
a0=56806
thrs=24703
ratio=8
gain=12

with and without "x" quotation marks.

What am I missing here? Any other clues chappies?

Ta Bazzle

Edit: When I changed the voice it started working. :) eek, distorted but ! :(

First of all, what voices are you using? That [dynamiccompressor] does not work in Primo - I've tried it. It works fine [louder] in my iGO8 program. Along with my modified louder English voices, it's much louder.

Is it just the voices, or are all sounds generated by Primo/iGo not loud enough (beeps, bongs, siren sounds, etc)?
If everything is low (with all volume sliders maxed out), I would tend to doubt it's a program issue.
Does the hardware unit have any settings for "External volume", "Aux volume", or any such thing?

Gooday boys

All sounds are down a bit.
It is a hardware issue, Im guessing the input from GPS is set too low. I will contact vendor to see if there is a fllash (holds breath, turning blue)
I wish it had extra setting for other input volume levels but no.

The voices Im using are Aus Lee. The dynamic compressor is working on a few diff voices Ive now tried, but all have a raspy distortion with it active.

Chas Im going to try yours tonight in iGO8 thanks. I have started to use Primo 1.2 a lot more now though.

As an aside a search thru Google shows many people having issues with low audio on igo and Primo.

Just know, my friend, that my iGO8 program has US and UK English only not Australian. I don't think that Australian [LOQ] is available for iGO8.

Might be worth reading...

Thanks Fatboyfun, already read that and tried the tweaks .
Dynamic compressor helps but makes the voices squelchy.
It will be a hardware preamp level setting issue. Waiting for seller to come back to me... waiting.........

Hey Bazzle, did you ever get any joy with this?
I have a similar problem with a chinese embedded unit running Primo 1.1. All sound is very low and there is no master preamp volume control that I have found...

cheers,
..Neil

Sorry to say Neil but I don't think that you'll find a way to further increase the volume in Primo that I'm aware of. My iGO8 program is much louder http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6880-Igo8-March-5-2011 I'm going to have do a new upload though because the current link seems to be dead. I don't know where you live [Australia?] but just know that the TTS voices are only English [US and UK].
