Help wanted (this time) with speedcam icons

Thu Dec 16, 2010 9:03 pm

Sorry Chas521

If you pick this up yes I am back.

Normally get my speedcams from scdb and they come in a single file which gives my a single icon for all categories. Most sites seem to do the same for Igo but (yes I will wash mouth out) Tomtom seem to get them categorised into speeds. Also does Igo accept multiple speed txt files (Yes I could try and see what happens )

Sent email to SCDB who replied cat files available but when pointed out could only get single file said "sorry I made a mistake" :wallbash:

Since the text file contains the speed limit and could be split into speeds
is there anyway to use this info to get speed related icons?

Keith,
There was a free site that gave speedcams by the speed limit but now they charge for their service but it doesn't appear to be very expensive as I see: [Please Register or Login to download file] . BTW, Nabi is from your neck of the woods and I'm sure you'll be hearing from him soon.

EDIT: Looks like it is $7.00 US one-time charge.

Thanks Chas521

Thought it would not be long before you replied:dance_mini:.

Found that the file speed_cams.bmp has 5 icons in it so these can be changed to what I want but how to allocate to the .txt file

Nabi possibly knows about your speedcam questions. I think it's better if he answers because he has knowledge about speedcams in Europe. Nevertheless, I'm still here for you. Go to the site I gave you above and you may want to register there.

I suppose the question is related to iGO, not to Primo? I hope so because I am not familiar with Primo.
And to iGO's standard skin?

Honestly, I don't know the speed_cams.bmp file. It must be in branding.zip since that is where the icons are, isn't it? So changing the branding.zip could give different icons. Just for your information.
I think the easiest and simplest way of doing what you want is using a skin. DiMKa's or Gurjons will do exactly what you want. It's a bit digging in the options but you will find your way ;)
I also think (not sure) Kikker skin has that possibility. I mention Kikker because this skin is the closest to standard skin. I tried it, really liked it, but on my device it crashed too often. A resolution problem? No idea. My resolution is supported. So now I use Gurjon, v6.19 I believe. (no device by hand). In fact which skin you like is personally. The skins do offer the possibility to a more precise voice warning ("red light camera, 40 miles per hour") and the matching icon.

Now that I think of it. Long time since I not used a skin. The camera icon is related to a code in the speedcam txt file. I know I posted it once, but where again? I am saying this because the camera icon shown depends on that code. Even in standard skin; I believe.
So I am wondering if the speedcam file you use has a single code for speedcam. I can be wrong.

Found the format for iGO: X,Y,TYPE,SPEED,DIRTYPE,DIRECTION

X = horizontal/longitude (E/W) coordinate
Y = vertical/latitude (N/S) coordinate
TYPE = Camera type:
1 - Static camera,
2 - Built in Traffic light,
3 - Camera checking passing through red light,
4 - Section camera,
5 - Mobile camera
SPEED = Speed limit
DIRTYPE = Camera direction type:
0 - all directions (full 360')
1 - one direction (see DIRECTION field)
2 - both directions (DIRECTION + the opposite direction)
DIRECTION = Camera angle degree (between 0 and 359, 0 - North, 90 - East, 180 - South, 270 - West)

Can you check your speedcam txt format?

Thanks Nabi,

Have checked speedcam.txt and it is in this format.

Will have a look at Kikker skin

My icons are in data.zip so may also try other data and branding files
