Help on Teleatlas 2012.Q2 Europe

Postby skynet66 » Mon Feb 04, 2013 11:32 am

Hi all,

I've just downloaded those maps. I've always used the Navteq and I found some differences:

- All the 3DC files are not present.
- All the FDA files are not present.
- FPA: present only Czech Republic, Germany, Spain and Russia
- All the FSP are not present.
- Truck POI?

I'm not sure whether they exist, whereas in Navteq do. Guess 3DC and the rest of FPA should be exist somewhere...

Any idea on where I can find them?

Thank you !!!

Teleatlas maps are always lacking in these extra files, and also they are not always updated at the same time.

I posted the lastest links, but am not responsible for the upload itself. What is not uploaded, may not be available.
3DC I do not use at all, but I read somewhere 3DC is outdated. Last files date from years ago. These info is in 3DL files now (? Honestly, I don't know, for me it's just eye candy, I have 3D buildings disabled). When you want 3DC, take Navteq files.
Driver alerts is only Navteq, not TA/TT.
FPA must be some Navteq thing too, since I have never ever encountered any house number problem in TeleAtlas, which I use since ... long. For me TeleAtlas is more detailed, has more streets and house numbers, has more industrial terrains, .. but misses driver alerts.

That's interesting !!
It means I can use the 3DC files from the NavTeq stock while using the Navteq, I did not know that, thanks.
Ok for Driver Alerts, understood.
I don't understand what you meant about FPA, are you telling me I can use FPA from navteq too? In that case ok, I have them, if not, where can I find the other TeleAtlas FPA files? I mean, find the missing files from previously version, like for instance, 2012.q1 or whatever (always teleatlas)

Thank you again, it's almost all clear !!! :)

FPA files are not available or even necessary for every region, these are for countries where you have a lot of "off street" estates.

Important about FDA: Only usable with Navteq maps (of the same release date !!!).

About FPA, I think we are not communicating right. I have never missed FPA files using TeleAtlas maps, which in MY opinion, offer more detail than Navteq. Maybe TeleAtlas offers those files as an addition to some maps, while the information is simply included in the other (mostly Western Europe) maps. Navteq offers them for all countries, I think.

For your information: all such files go into the same folder(s) as the maps they are intended to be used with.

Perfect, thank you, that's the key.

Uhm... using this key, what about POIs?
Could I use the Navteq POIs with telealtas set?

The rule of thumb is "you can mix and match between folders, but not within folders"

So Teleatlas poi's, navteq maps and navteq ftr's is ok, while Teleatlas poi's, navteq maps and teleatlas ftr's is not.
