Help! Installing iGO 8.3 Picture goes all white and rolls!

Sun Oct 30, 2011 8:46 pm

Hi gang and thanks for reading this. I downloaded iGO 2008 Full version with maps. Followed nabi's instructions, started it up and the screen just goes all white like it's burning up then rolls like it's the wrong res. Correct resolution is 800x480 tested. My device is a chinese 2din, program is on Storage Card, in USA. The only way I could get it to come up at all was delete the sys.txt file!
Any help appreciated!

Can you post the sys.txt?

There might be an entry to force a different graphics driver within which causes the white screen effect, similar to this line...

driver=GLES

Thanks!, as I said, I had to delete the sys.txt. I'll put a generic one in and add "driver=GLES" and let you know what happens!

Sun Oct 30, 2011 9:50 pm

OK, Added a baic sys.txt and added the driver line. It's still doing the white screen then rolling. here is what SYS.TXT looks like:
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1

[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0

driver=GLES

I meant to delete the line driver=gles .

What happens without the sys.txt? Does it start ok?

Sun Oct 30, 2011 9:59 pm

Didn't work, sys.txt below
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1

[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0

driver=GLES

no,, the white screen and rolling only.

Sun Oct 30, 2011 10:03 pm

initially, it shows the 800x480 iGO bmp, then fades to white, then rolls.

Sun Oct 30, 2011 10:15 pm

How do you know igo shows the bmp in that resolution?
Have you deleted the save folder before trying again?

When you are right and it's a resolution thing:
Where did you get the full igo? Possible it's a faulty upload, or faulty download. Or the data.zip is wrong, or the sd card needs reformatting, or ....

Start with a minimal iGO (not a full iGO) from scratch, and make sure the correct resolution is in the data.zip.

Sun Oct 30, 2011 10:28 pm

Or just use this one instead. In the sys.txt change 480_272 to 800_480.

Thanks!! I'll try it :)

Mon Oct 31, 2011 12:32 am

ok,
Did just that, it is trying to come upbut I only see upper left 1/4 of the screen. Any ideas?

Mon Oct 31, 2011 3:44 am

Did you change the resolution in the sys.txt like I instructed you to? Did you save the edited sys.txt in the file menu dropdown before you exited the application? Make sure that you delete the save folder after doing these things. Completely shutdown, wait a few seconds and then restart.

Thanks for replying chas521, I really appreciate all of the help! OK, yes, I did save the 800_480 in the sys.txt file, but didn't delete the save folder so when I get out of work (I'm on the east coast US) I'll delete it and try again! Also, I got a version of Primo to work great! so if the 8.3 doesn't work, I'll at least be able to use my device. I'm actually quite impressed with Primo, it loads really fast! Someday after I get this finished I'll share the story of why I got into this stuff to begin with,, pretty funny,, anyway,
thanks again,
BobbyMustang:)

East coast. I'm from NY. How are you set for maps? ABSOLUTELY Navteq maps and TA POIs.

If you still have a problem viewing total, you may have to add this to the sys.txt:

[interface]
resolution_dir="800_480"
vga=0

[rawdisplay]
highres=0
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
class="landscape"

Don't forget to delete the save folder.
