Going from iGo8 to iGo-Primo 2.4-9.6.13

Sat Jun 28, 2014 6:17 pm

Hello everyone,
Totally new to this and I need some help with this. As the title says. I have the map and everything downloaded.
following this link:
http://www.navitotal.com/program-data-zip-branding-zip-license-f83/igo-primo-complete-torrent-t12043.html
The system turns on and loads whatever map there is, but I can't get a lock on the GPS.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

My iGo 8 works fine, but If I want to use the iGo Primo; it can't detect any gps signal.

Thanks

You need to set up the gps settings in Primo's sys.txt. Copy these from iGO8

Should I delete the old sys.txt file from the primo file before I copy the other from iGO8?

Add...

[gps]
port=2
baud=9600

...to Primo's sys.txt, and restart.

You can try changing the Baud rate, but usually an intermittent satellite lock is another problem.

If you have an external antenna then check its leads condition and whether it's connected properly.

Here is a littel dilema I am having now.
I am currently running these software:
iGo-Primo 2.4 9.6.13 Complete--Torrent from here: program-data-zip-branding-zip-license-f83/igo-primo-complete-torrent-t12043.html
Maps I used are:
US & CANADA, HERE for 2013.Q4 [140410] from here: maps-buildings-dem-poi-f82/
My unit is the C050 S100
The system boots up perfectly and runs.
When I want to change the icon of the arrow to something different, it gives me an error and says application will close or exit. I had loaded like 200 of different icons.
Maybe some are not supported to run on this system??
I currently have one running. Once I try to change it, it gives me that error.
Also when playing music with the original player of the unit, it takes time to load. I am assuming this is because of the iGo Primo??
When I go back to the original iGo8, there isn't any issues or hesitation in loading the map nor playing music.

Can someone point me in any direction here what I can do to solve this.
I prefer running the iGo Primo then the iGo8 because of more options.

iGo8= no issues
iGo Primo= somewhat issues

Any pointer for these issues?

Thanks.

What do you want to change it to, and where did you got it from?
Did you see this 3D car models for Primo?

I think I got it from here. I had changed the arrow into a car. That's the link I used.

If I would be you, I wouldn't be so happy. Adding port=2 and boud=9600 to your sys.txt is NOT a solution for poor satellite connection! First, the GPS software determines it automatically on startup. Depends on your specific hardware, some systems determines it quicker than others. Second, you are lucky that your GPS happen to use port 2 and boud 9600, it could have been any other port and boud and then your GPS would have stopped working completely.

The reasons for having poor satellite connection and losing it are many, and none of them is because you don't have the port and boud rate specified in your sys.txt. Now, it depends on the actual reason that you loose the satellite connection, having the port and baud rate specified it could restore the connection quicker but it is not a solution why you have poor satellite reception.
