Error out of memory

Postby dotba22 » Sun Apr 21, 2013 2:59 pm

Hi Hope someone can help resolve a issue a work friend has with his Chinese sat nav running Igo Primo 2 / Sygic Fleet. Sygic runs fine and has no issues but not the preferred software as it doesn't seem to route as well as Igo. Igo with 3d buildings removed, all unneeded voices and so on removed still after various amounts of time gives the small Error out of memory message, requested:1265460 Cache: 2912396 and has to be shut down. Tried various sd card sizes with no luck, removed TTS voices but still same problem. Resident flash has 14.2MB free Used 496KB

Rom version:
V.13M.000000.110518.128M

APP Version:
YECON-V1.3.1ABF-U120-HD-EN

System ID:
0018E420-09000000
00000000-00000001

Any help or advise would great, thanks in advance

There are several ways...

There might be some sort of information display buried away in a menu
You can run a small application which will tell you
Checking documentation or website (may not be entirely accurate)
Running \windows\control.exe -> system applet -> memory tab on your device

The last one is preferred as you may have to make an adjustment there.

I clicked on system and memory tab which displays a slide bar with Allocated 268kb, in use80kb on the left and on the right Allocated 56424kb, in use 43124kb

The slide bar is all the way to the left with a small amount of blue behind and the rest is white?? Hope that helps??

Were you running any navigation app when you took that reading? There's not a lot of free memory available.

switched unit off and took sd card out and done it again, readings on left Allocated: 268kb in use:80kb
Right Allocated 52424kb in use:13408kb, slide tab still to left but blue stripe nearly 3/4 the way accross.

Also looked at primo files and noticed I had 3 save files, deleted them all along with crash log to see if that helps?

The blue bar is unused memory, more blue = more free ram.

This looks like a 64MB device, primo will run on a 64MB device, but some devices will have limitations.

Was the card supplied with the device from new? it might have other software like a shell that consumes memory.
It might be better to build a new card with only a minimal build of primo installed.

Ok thanks for all your help and advice I will do what you suggest and hopefully that will resolve the issue the error messages. I believe it was supplied with IGO8 from new and its been formatted and had the Igo/Sygic installed for lorry use. I will start from scratch with it and leave out any unneeded functions to save on memory. Thanks again.
