[Guide] Definitive Setup Bluetooth on iGO 8.3.x / iGO Primo

Sun Jun 05, 2011 12:02 am

Hi guys,

Been searching around quite a bit now for the last couple weeks and haven't been able to find any complete information that details how to setup Bluetooth (Phone/Handsfree) for iGO

So far I have setup iGO 8.3.x and Primo - I think both are very good. But bluetooth is either hidden away really well /not configured/or not available.

Does iGO support Bluetooth?

Can someone help me set it up ?

Btw; Device: Navman S50.

Update -------
Tryed adding following configuration changes to sys.txt - Testing.

[phone]
show_dialer=1 ;getsysentry
show_hangup=1 ;getsysentry
show_bluetooth=1 ;getsysentry

[bluetooth]
send_showphoneui_on_dial=1

--- Button shows up but no option to connect yet :-/ Am I missing something?

Done some more testing can't get it working yet. Any ideas guys?

I'm going to be updating the maps on a S50 this weekend, I'll have a play with it.

I've made some progress but it's not perfect...

As i had installed GJA 2.26 skin anyway, i added these lines to the sys.txt

[bluetooth]
btappl="\My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioBT\MioBT.exe"

Then turned on the Show Bluetooth button in Settings\GJA Settings\System Settings\Show Bluetooth button -> External
And added the GJA Bluetooth to the quick menu
Now when the GJA Bluetooth button is tapped in the quick menu, The MioBT app appears and from there you can add phones, make and receive calls and so on, However when you close the app to go back to iGO the bluetooth switches off and any connections are terminated. I have to give the device back so don't have any more time to work on it...

I can get the device to pair but as soon as it pairs - the device disconnects. T_T so close...

Frustrating isn't the word!!!

I could not find any other way of turning Bluetooth on without using the MioBT app, Even the Bluetooth control panel applet reports that there's a problem.

Theres a "btonoff.exe" floating around in the ether I tried that - didn't seem to do anything on the S50. I tried using a mortscript instead to launch MioBT.exe.. No Go. Also Mort Script (included below)

Run("\My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioBT\ANWDOG.EXE")
Run("\My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioBT\MioBT.exe")

Perhaps ..

Run("\My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioBT\ANWDOG.EXE")
Run("\My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioBT\MioBT.exe" -h HFP HSP DUN SMS -phoneui) dunno if i'm doing this right.. i'm just making stuff up here ...

Found This: [Please Register or Login to download file] , Suggesting to launch ANWDOG.exe before the bt can be accessed.. which makes no sense ..

Loading it before the Igo Primo software does not work - MioBT either closes before opening or runs hidden in the Background (Useless)

Tried editing the protocol.ini file in the MioBT Folder .. that didn't help. Maybe I can copy the MioC520 Launcher app to the Navman. Ew.. This is getting rediculous lol.. Has nobody got this working at all ?

I found an obscure reference to a "Bluetooth.exe" loader [Please Register or Login to download file] that was used in some sort of unlock for the navman/mio.. (apparently mio owns navman now or vice-versa or something to that effect) not sure where to get the "Bluetooth.exe" program from though...

This link [Please Register or Login to download file] also [Please Register or Login to download file] , Looks like there might be some parameters that need to be passed to the MioBT or ANWDOG program before it will work maybe ...

Like so;

[bluetooth]
btappl="\My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioBT\MioBT.exe"
btparam="-phoneui"

That doesn't work btw. theres no way to tell whether its just some random noob posting useless sys.txt commands or a solution.. who knows honestly.. where is the documentation!!

I tried most of that, Honestly it may be like TMC where the original programme has to be running for it to work.

After reading all that I'm still confused. Is there a solution for this now or am I relegated to continue using Igo8 on my pda? That works pretty well and I hadn't considered changing until I loaded Primo on the Rightway RW550 I bought for using when riding the motorcycle (bigger screen). I like the look and was hoping to have consistent interface when going from bike to car.

This was just a problem with the Navman S50, If your device works fine with iGO 8, then it should be ok with Primo

Sun Oct 09, 2011 9:50 pm

But it's not. I've been messing with this all day and can't get it to find the bluetooth gps receiver.

Sun Oct 09, 2011 10:11 pm

Finding the bluetooth GPS receiver is an entirely different problem to the problem in this thread.

I take it the GPS receiver is paired correctly, And was working with the old software (iGO 8), Did you use the same com and baud settings in Primo?

Tue Oct 11, 2011 6:51 pm

I see. Yes it is paired correctly. I don't know how to get to that in primo.

Tue Oct 11, 2011 7:25 pm

You don't, You edit the file sys.txt that's in the Primo directory root, Find the section that's similar to below...

[gps]
Port=[color="red"]2[/color]
Baud=[color="red"]4800[/color]

Edit the numbers in red to match your hardware

I just tried that but it doesn't work. Guess I'll just stick with igo8 since it does work. Thanks.

ETA:

I got it to work. I connected the gps before opening Primo and it found the gps. Next time I was able to start it without the gps connected first. It lost the signal once and I had to restart it but so far so good.
