Color POI/Icon pack error

Postby mpourdas » Fri Jan 18, 2013 11:40 pm

I tried to use for the first time this Color POI/Icon pack. I downloaded it from YT's last upload of Primo 2.4. The program loads without errors and I see the new icons on the map. However, when I go to POI settings (Place markers in Map settings) and then start to scroll down I get an error "failed to open poi_mapclose.spr" and then I have to exit. Any idea?

Primo 9.6.13, dimkawa 1.70, wayteq x960bt, 128MB, wince 6.0.

What is stopping you to try without the icon pack ? ;)
In the past every new iGO version had its problems, that were solved when time passed. The same will happen with this Primo2.4, though I do not know what is so important that it gets the new number 2.4, bypassing 2.2 and 2.3.

I have no intention to download and try YT's pack. So no meaningful reaction from me. Nevertheless maybe worth a try.
"poi_mapclose.spr" is (I think) in Primo 2.0 data.zip/ui_igo9/your_resolution, but is (AFAIK) missing in Primo2.4. Copy the 2.0 version to your 2.4 build and try.
However, 2.0 skins do not (without modifications) work in 2.4, so ...

As I always say, not tried, not succeeded. ;)

Color POI/Icon pack error

Postby HiroboFreak » Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:46 am

Hi guys,

I just downloaded & installed this version & I've encountered a problem with the Optional Icon pack.

Everything has loaded OK, but when I go into Settings/Map Settings/Place Markers & scroll down a little I get this error:

Failed to open file:
poi_mapclose.spr
exiting application

The program exits when I click "ok"

I have located the file & tried copying it again, as well as the entire ui_igo9 folder but I'm still getting the fatal error.

Any way to solve this?
I will remove the optional poi/icon pack for now.

Thanks in advance. :)

To all:
Which pack (resolution) are you trying? I found no problems with the 480x272 pack...but I had previously modified it removing some unnecessary POIs and related files, and just left it as it was when changing to 2.4.
With previous versions of the icon pack, there were some typo errors within certain files that, when edited out, eliminated certain errors in certain circumstances.
Other than the above, attempting such a POI pack on devices with less than 128 MB memory could result in disappointment.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Sorry...cannot help with the 800x400. I have nothing to test it on in case it needs adjustments. The 480x272 seems to work fine, and the structure is almost identical, so it may be something within the 800x480 resolution section in data.zip..something missing? I have not done a file by file comparison between 480x272 and 800x480 for P2.4, but maybe there are differences and the icon pack for a particular resolution that worked in P2 may not work in P2.4 (similar to skins) without some modifications...or maybe not at all. Sorry I cannot test or fix for that resolution.:(
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

OK I can deal with not having full colour icons.

I have another issue with this version...

If I go to My Route/Itinerary & click on a manoeuvre the system crashes. :chok_mini:

Any ideas??

I realise this is a different topic (same version) but my other thread was closed.

Ok the Itinerary crash is solved.
I installed the same build but from another source and all is well.

Any help with the icon pack crash is appreciated.

Thanks.

i had same issue in 2.4,looked through numerous files, tried altering some values in sprites etc but no success.i ran 2.4 as a test to see what the fuss was about, the result? not worth the bugs.stick to YT's 2.0. faultless! only my own opinion though.

When you think about it,what significant improvements could be made to the software itself?it is after all just a gps/satnav system to get you from a to b to c and so on,that's not going to change a lot.you can modify the graphics a little, that's simple enough to do,other than that, what else?all these new version 'releases' kinda bug me. why bother?
2.0? it ain't broke,so don't try to fix it.

my apologies for jumping the thread.
