Hi Skezza

Have downloaded Chas521 link to Primo 2.4 and installed it. Nothing fancy, no skin loaded and kept the sys.txt file as was.

It is still behaving as before and freezing the program if i exit by turning off the key, yet iGO8 behaves perfectly.

If I could state the obvious answer to me, it would be to forget Primo and stick with iGO8. But that's up to you.

iGO8 is certainly proving to be the more stable and predictable of the two.

Still confused as to why it would make a difference. What is it about Primo that causes your device to crash so suddenly? Again, I can only assume it's some sort of suspend issue, but perhaps it's something else...

Hi

I have now downloaded and installed primo2 and it work absolutely flawlessly.

No matter how i shut down it always boots up correctly next time i start the ignition.

Bit(very) confused and concerned as why primo2.4 is so unstable. If anyone comes up with the answer please post it.

Thanks to everyone for you help.

2.4 was buggy to begin with, newer is not necessarily better.

Funny enough, when I referred to gametime and nexttime, they are the pure primo2 builds that I meant. Very stable.

2.4 has been fine for me but it's got some interesting route calculations. Still not sure whether I'm going stick with it.

Yeah, i found with Primo2.4 the route calculations in "fast" mode were very strange but using "easy" mode they were much better.

Interesting. Maybe I'll try easy mode.

That said, I'm rather tempted to switch back to 2.0, or even sack off Primo and go back to iGo8.

Doesn't easy mode tend to result in significantly longer trips?

On one trip i made in fast mode it sent me down a lot of narrow country lanes which took about an hour longer to navigate down. The length of the trip was, on paper, slightly shorter.

On the whole i am satisfied with the easy mode and very happy with Primo2.0.

I'll start generating alternative routes then and looking at the 'Easy mode' to see how much shorter/longer they are.

I'm still yet to see the benefit of Green Mode. So far, the Green Routes have sent me ridiculous routes like down back lanes and in the countryside. I wondered whether Green Mode actually means seeing the countryside or helping the environment.

Right, i have since tried 2.4ver9.6.13.351648 which has the same shut down problem.

I am now trying 2.4ver9.6.13.405512 and the shut down problem seems to have disappeared. I have used the same sys.txt on all 3 programs. Badly cracked previous programs, i don't think so, or bugs fixed. I would like to know but probably won't.

Possibly/maybe/perhaps all can be related to the device/software combination.
Since a while newer builds are mostly (no more than?) an adaption from NNG towards the device. It can be bugs are fixed meanwhile, or new detail features are introduced. Since one device not being the other, or one brand not being the other, hardware/software/firmware is different. Most of us never notice anything, other have hick ups, some will notice one build working better than another. Maybe for your device 405512 simply shuts down because a routine or DLL (in 405512) is better suited for your device or the other way around, the Windows DLL (from the OS in your device ) better fits 405512 than previous builds.

Know that (FWIW) 267029 is generally seen as the best and most stable 2.4 build. Maybe not for everyone. Nevertheless, there is little reason to renew to a newer build every release.

My 2 cents. Nabi is completely correct. The program is usually not the paramount thing but the contents is.
