Another thought is the device is running out of memory at resume when primo is running and shuts down background tasks, ie the device shell/menu, so when you exit primo nothing is there to fall back to. And Chinese devices usually don't load the wince desktop by default.

If it retains settings and radio presets when the ignition is off then it should be wired correctly.
This is true, but I would still consider trying it. It's another avenue you have addressed.

Hi
My device has 128Mb of memory.

I am 100% certain the switched and permanent voltage rails are wired correctly.

Maybe temporarily reduce the content of primo to get a lower memory requirement, one map only, no tts etc...

OK, then we need to look at something else. Have you tried other software? Garmin XT? iGo8? Sygic Mobile Maps?

What we need to address is why Primo is stopping the device from shutting down. Have you tried alternative versions of Primo?

Do you have any other peripherals plugged or inserted into the device? e.g. Music SD, USB, CD/DVD? etc?

Right, i have reduced the program. No tts, no buildings, no demographic. I have no other peripherals plugged in and it is still doing the same things.

No i haven't tried any other software yet. What do you suggest?

For some reason i quite fancy Garmin but haven't got a clue where to start.

Diverting quickly. I have another Chinese device from another supplier. It has the same amount of memory and other functions, music player, E-book etc are similar. I have connected this up on the bench with a permanent +12V line and a switched +12V line. I have had a quick play with it and disconnecting the switched line with a switch, to simulate turning off the ignition, it comes back on with navigation screen as before, but now it allows me to turn off the device without freezing.

There is a difference with this device as follows. The satnav device, when installed replaces the GID screen which shows radio info, time etc. For this device, which works as expected, the GID is repositioned elsewhere in the car. For the other device the information from the GID is overlaid on the device screen. There is no apparent tie up electrically with the GID and the satnav.

I would suggest trying Garmin XT. Really, without confirming that other software doesn't crash, we can't begin to narrow it down.

It might be worth trying another build of Primo incase the original was broken in some way.

So, what you're saying is that with iGo8, it works?

Then I think we know the answer. You need a new build of Primo. If I was you, I'd download a completely fresh build. I'm sure fatboyfun can provide you the link (gametime and nexttime?) to his excellent clean version with no skins, or extra bits and bobs. I would start with that and effectively build yourself a new version tailored to your device. I've noticed that downloading versions pre-built for other devices, e.g. Clarion, NavGear, M3GPS etc can result in really really weird glitches and bugs. I can't remember all of them, but for example, when I tried the Clarion version on my Erisin, it not only refused to quit (until the ignition was removed), it seemed to have weird graphic issues and glitches. The maps didn't seem to render correctly and on one of my other devices, it caused the screen to turn off entirely? The KIA version was another one that did some rather weird things to my device. I don't remember fully, but it was very buggy and crashed a lot.

Try a fresh clean build.

Thanks very much Skezza, i appreciate your help.

If you are watching, fatboyfun, could you possibly provide a link to a clean version of Primo 2.4 as suggested by Skezza above.

Also thanks to you for your input to my problem.

I have downloaded the Primo 2.4 zip file from Chas521 and am now putting the files in the "contents" folder.

Can someone tell what the"vocon" folder and associated .dll files, in the root directory, are for and do i really need them.

Thanks for your help.

It's to do voice recognition, they're harmless files.
