I have given up on these chinese made gps units here in Oz it simple hasn't got strong signals takes an hour to connect and drops out constantly
tested all ports and settings under the sun all igo version just straight in the bin

That suggests there is a problem with interference or screening. My experience is that their sensitivity is as good as any other. Do you have a heated windscreen? It could be noise from another device: I once had this problem. Some electronics would obliterate the gps signal for whatever devide was near.

That's just downright stupidity. If the gps receiver can't get a lock, it is not the software's fault, and changing the ports won't make any difference.

Take it out of Bin and send to me

In my opinion, Win CE based GPS had more advantage, since they were designed mainly & specifically for GPS tools.
They also had a wider GPS softwares in the market, than android. And the price also cheaper than android phones, tabs etc.

I had bad experience with my android 4.0 based cellphone which I used as my GPS tool.
Its internal antenna not good since it take a lot of time to lock to sattelite. Sometimes even for 2 hours, under clear open sky, it cannot lock. In an emergency condition which need GPS ready, as soon as possible, it would be very frustating.

Now, I use a China GPS (with Win CE 6.0) eqquiped with GPS processor SIRF Atlas 5.
It only need 30 seconds to lock to sattelites. Even if I bring it inside my house, it can still lock to 3 to 5 sattelites. This would not happen to my android phone.

For a China GPS with Win CE based, prices as cheap as US$ 80, I think it worth to buy.
Never mind what would happen 2 or 3 years in the future after Win CE support had been stopped. Because I'm sure at that time, I will have a newer GPS unit with newer technology.

Hi All: I have the same success and did the same thing as newsguy99 using the link shown. I bought my unit from Seicane.com for an Audi 2011 A4.

I think a China nav + New version of igo is a no brainer. Some of the really poor Sat nav turning up in cars now as standard in car entertainment. A cheap China double din is what? Less than 150 if you just want basic navigation and no other features. No brainer

Unfortunately I have bad experience with Chinese GPS. During last 3 years I've bought two 5" WinCE, two 7" WinCE and two 7" Android gps. Only one still working. Sooner (in 1-2 weeks) or later (in 6-10 month) all lost ability to navigate. Recently I bought Samsung Galaxy 7" Tab2. Excellent! I've never seen that a gps is able to see 18 satellites and talk with 12. It takes just 5-30 sec to start navigation .

my 2 penies worth had a china sat nav 128mb for ages now works fantastic with primo 2.4 what i would like to know is has anyone managed to get a tmc reciever working with a china sat nav and if so what brand?

I have a 7" Nexus7 Andriod with Primo installed. It's reliable with no problems other than it can't use 8.3. My road trip unit is a Magellan 1700, 7" running 8.3 customized to my liking. Also have a Chinese 5" thats 3 years old, running 8.3 and also reliable, both are Win CE.

I have a Chinese unit bought off ebay running IGO8 with Navteq maps picks up signal faster than my TomTom , and where i live is better mapping, But the TomTom still feels the better unit

i have got one of these units and i use it every day in my truck and it works very well.it can get cuaght out sometimes but on the whole it is a good unit for the price.i have updated mine with Primo 2.4 with a differant skin and it runs this fine.

Im new to this place so I hope someone can help.
Purchased a 7 inch incar DVD/GPS from china last week and it works, runs IGO 8. (even though the GUI seems to be designed by a 3year old)
I was not all that happy with that version so I tried to install IGO Primo. First I tried ver 2.4 and got some out of memory error, strange because its a 128 MB unit and everybody is telling me that it should work just fine.

Ok, so I tried the 2.0 version, same one as in this thread, and NOTHING, it does not even start.
What am I missing? Do I need to edit the sys.txt manually?
The interesting thing is that even though IGO doesn´t start, it looks like the system process has actually started because if I press some of the icons on the GPS menu e.g. GPS settings, i get a message "To use this, please exit GPS first" (or something in that area)

By my six years experience dealing with Chinese GPS and iGO I suggest you to download as many as possible iGO sets and try one by one. Hopefully one of them will work. The most reliable is from Zervdim
