Binatone B350 (winCE6.0) and iGo

Tue May 31, 2011 10:50 pm

Hello all (FatBoyFun especially). My good old LooKet had physically broke and malfunctioning now, so remembered your advice, got Binatone from Asda.
Did read the other thread
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?4291-Binatone-B350-newb.&highlight=binatone+b350
But thanks to previous help- got to used to iGo Primo now... and somehow TT does not load up (unless I do something wrong- would not be wander)) either
The device is 320x240 but WinCE6.0 is different to what I've got?
Image
I got few bits as did get them working on my old SatNav
Image
somehow whaever I do- nothing gets starting up. I have tried TT 7.4 and three iGo variants having renamed as MobileNavigator and MobileNavigator.exe
Could somebody guide me which and what I need please?
Many Thanks!

If you are installing onto an sd card then create a txt file with the path to igo in it.

\SDMMC\Primo\iGO.exe <- edit if necessary

Then rename the file to SHELL.ini and put on the root of the card.

B350 = WinCE6? Never seen that before? Tomtom probably won't work correctly then.

Thanks old boy!
hrmmm kinda stuck then? basically promised startup from SD does not work- need something to get killed in device?
got few bits from earlier

Or just surely as ever I have something mis-configured?

Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:41 am

Never seen one of these with WinCE6 before so it's possible other things have been changed.

Is it still running Turbodog?
Is it still \ResidentFlash\MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe?
Is the sd card still called SDMMC?
And can you post a image of the original shell.

Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:04 am

1-card was not there for starters- booting from device
2-Binatone
Drive like local
WARNING(notice)- OK
3- navigation(Binatone-Drive like local) or menu (GPS receiver; Settings; MultiMedia)- all crap..."X" to exit

I'd rather have old iGo Primo or any other running(if at all possible)
Thanks gain!

I bought a Binatone B430 (Same device but bigger screen) and it only has 256MB internal memory so unless this newer version has more flash memory you will need a sd card, max 2GB

Connect device to the pc and browse the device, what do you see?

Wed Jun 01, 2011 2:58 pm

If I dont start device- drivers etc error
once device is started- same! (only Mobile gay center starts and crashes)
will play a bit more- will post back once all of that is sorted

... dont look promising
Fatboyfun wrote:Is it still running Turbodog?

Nope- It's own Binatone thingy
I
Fatboyfun wrote:s it still \ResidentFlash\MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe?

I could rename/format in to anything I like (MY CARD), but device had none... so I could not open one to post back

Cant do...

Does the original gps software still work? The USB cable that came with my B430 was broken. There is a factory reset option in the oem shell, try running that to see if you can then connect to the pc.

The device needs to be on to connect via activesync or wmdc, I've done a quick search on the B350 with WinCE6 and it appears to be the same procedure to run other programmes.

You don't need to edit anything on the internal memory, just work on the sd card making sure the path in shell.ini is correct, and when you tap the icon for navigation Primo starts instead.

Man! you are the man!
anw- some stupedous errors- cant get it connected to PC properly, tried again and again different stuff(iGO)- she works!
starts with ugly Binatone#Drive like a local#

Warning etc- OK
Navigation
and good old iGO starts up!, given me eula error couple of times- accept- not anymore!
in settings I've set it up straight to navigation... only prob- GPS BOUD settings(just don't remember as how to access those in iGO)

GPS Port and baud is COM:7 @ 57600, Enter into sys.txt

The Binatone graphics chip struggles with 3D buildings so you may want to leave them out.

What I'm using (configured to minimum and UK and ROI maps)
what server would one prefer to have whole package uploaded?

Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:47 pm

Either [Please Register or Login to download file] or [Please Register or Login to download file]

You cannot get rid of the warning notice and the original shell without registry edits and it's very easy to brick these devices by editing the registry incorrectly.

My post #999 by the way...
