Autodetecting GPS receiver..

Wed Apr 13, 2011 7:59 pm

Well, just managed to put iGo Primo on my Becker Z101, everything working fine, but now I got another problem "Autodetecting GPS receiver.." tried all kind of port and baud numbers, I could find. But nothing works. If someone could point me to the right direction I would be very grateful.

port=1
baud=57600

Hi nabi, thanks for your suggestion mate, but it still can't find gps receiver, I added port=1 baud=57600 to sys.txt as you suggested. I can't find out what's wrong with it. Maybe I should post sys.ini for you maybe something else wrong with it. Thanks in advance I really appreciate your help.

Rename the save folder (to save123 or something).
Restart the device, then again do the settings and wait for a gps fix. If all is well, you can safely delete the renamed folder.

Guys I done what u suggested, but it's not working. I found becker default port and baun tried them but no luck, I'm just wondering why then becker software works like a charm?

Thu Apr 14, 2011 6:29 pm

Does the default port and baud differ then?

Anyway, the becker software is still on the device? And Primo? On an sd?
it's possible the GPS is preoccupied by the original software (on start up the device), thus Primo can not use the gps.

yes nabi becker software is on device and primo on sd card, becker port and baud are different from that you suggested port=3 baud =38400

Well, I found while googling port=1 and baud=57600, so that was obviously wrong. Sorry
I must add that "autodetecting gps receiver" means the port and baud are wrong, so that is why I googled.

What happens if you make it the "original values"?
[gps]
port=3
baud=38400

Then go outside and wait for a satellite lock.
The first time Primo runs ans searches for satellites, it can take a while to lock on to the satellites. I feel Primo needs more time than iGO. Every start. But that is my feel.

Also take a look here: http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?962-How-To-s-Tutorials-and-Tweaks&p=12513#post12513
In case you need to verify the values.

Apologies for butting in but can you tell us how you got Primo to run on your device? Because it sounds like the GPS driver isn't loading.

@Fatboyfun, well I downloaded Primo from chas521 post, copied to sd card then turned on device, then clicked on Settings > Information > then loads page with becker version etc. Then I clicked on Information page twice and it opens windows explorer, I'm clicking on Storage Card > Primo folder > iGo.exe that's how I start Primo. Hope it helps

@nabi I changed port and baud to becker default and left for an hour but it won't work anyway.

@lescenko

Just so you know, more than 1100 members have downloaded my Primo 1.2 program from my device with not one complaint. I tell you this because it works just fine!
