I didnt "Get" the program. It is the Primo version that came with my Rosen unit new. I am currently working with my original backup. Now if I add a show_exit="1" to the interface, will an exit button appear somewher for me?

I think the syntax is

[interface]
show_exit=1

That entry is for a highway exit not the program exit. Have you thought about using one of our cracked programs that HAS an exit button?

What happens if you tap and hold (for a second) the Menu/Options button within the Primo interface?
Normally this should take you back to a "Start Up" screen (which can be skipped as Primo loads) where an Exit icon/button should reside.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

If you use the dimka skin then you can configure the on-screen menu button to exit primo on a long press, the exit button will appear on the map preview screen either way, also it's recommended that you need at least one successful start-up and shut-down on a new build otherwise you could get problems like you did.

you'll only need the one successful exit, then you can continue to shut down as before, but bear in mind that shutting off the device during a write to disk operation can cause corruption.

That's (Nabi's post#17) the correct sys.txt entry for showing the exit button.
The minimize button can also be shown with the following:

[interface]
show_exit=1 ; show exit button
show_minimize=1 ; show minimize button

These would work only if the default skin (data.zip) supports or have these buttons.

I have tried my original Primo 1.2, and 2 versions of Primo 2, all with the same results. But, all these worked perfect before I tried to get Igo8 working. I went through a few trial and errors with Igo8, but eventually got it working, and strange enough, its the only version that boots without the error.

Now, I just added show_exit="1" to my original OEM copy of Primo 1.2. deleted the "saved" folder and tried it out. Booted to the error screen, chose no, continued to boot as always. got to the main screen, chose exit, the program said exiting program and it did. tried to reboot, and same error again. I am baffled!

I'm adding my 2 cents for the last time with this. Could it be possible that because you are using a "real" program along with a "cracked program" that this is causing the problem? Something might be retained in memory? Just a thought.

chas521, I appreciate all the help! Thats what I am wondering. Does Primo save something in memory where Igo8 doesnt? And if so, how on earth does one clear the memory? I just find it very odd, that Igo8 boots fine where all versions including my factory oem version all boot to error, but also no instance in the crash files.

You're asking some very good questions. If you're using MY iGO8 program, then it's very good because that's the exact program I use. I don't use Primo very much simply because I don't like it. I don't like the way it navigates and I don't like the TTS voices - but that's my take with it. You have some really good folks working with you here so let them continue.

You have a very sophisticated system, audio, video, entertainment and navigation. I'm pretty sure Primo is running under wince. It's possible that although you exited primo via the exit button, primo still did not fully shutdown, and before it could, wince was reset thereby still leaving the "flag" for the "failed start".

I am not sure how Primo and wince starts on your device as I am only guessing. If my theory is right, maybe you can start CECMD.exe (total commander for wince) instead of Primo. And while in CECMD, try to run Primo, reply "N" to the warning message (to keep your settings), and then use the exit button to quit Primo in normal manner. Wait for a few seconds (it might take a few seconds to reset the "flag"), and then exit CECMD. Then change back your nav settings so that it starts with Primo and see if the pesky message is gone.

my system auto boots, I can get it to boot to cecmd if I rename it to Primo.exe. Problem is then Primo.exe is has to be named something different and then Primo wont load right. LOL...So I tried putting the cecmd renamed to primo.exe on one sd card, then my primo setup on another. Loaded the cecmd up and then swapped cards. that resulted in an error.

I don't think you can swap cards in the middle, that would require a reboot. Just rename primo.exe to something.exe, and put in cecmd.exe as a renamed primo.exe. Then, boot up your device.

Once CECMD is running, go to your primo directory and run/double-click something.exe. Primo will still run even if it is NOT named primo.exe. That should start Primo up. Then make sure primo (something.exe) is shut down normally.

The revert everything back, e.g., rename something.exe back to primo.exe, etc...

Are you able to change the navigation path (that right now points to primo)? If so, can you change it to point to windows explorer (\windows\explorer.exe) and from there run Primo ?
