application failed to start warning

application failed to start warning

Postby rheller1 » Thu Dec 27, 2012 11:48 pm

I cant get rid of a warning that comes up every boot. "application failed to start last time. Do you want to reset to factory defaults and lose all your pois,tracks and settings?" If I choose yes, Primo loads and runs exactly like it should except settings reset, until the next boot, then warning back. If I choose no, Primo loads and runs exactly as it should until next boot. Basically it works great, i just have this warning screen come on and have to choose yes/no every boot. So I put my Original backup in and it still does it?!? Put Igo 8.3.5 on it, and the issue goes away until i put Primo back in. I have deleted "saved" folder, there is no instance in the crash file and I have checked HKLM/software/igo8/startsuccess="t". I am at a loss at this point and clearly need somebody smarter than me to help! Please, any ideas or help is greatly appreciated!

well, I have 2 different versions of Primo. My backup of the original and Primo 2 international. both with there own sys.txt and both do the same. Both of these versions worked until I tried to put Igo8 on. I had a few issues, but eventually got it working. Went to go back to Primo and both come up with this error on boot

That sys.txt is way too long, try starting primo without it, also delete the save folder!

Did you mix iGO and Primo TTS voices in the content folder, meaning Loquendo and Nuance voices?

That shouldn't matter Nabi. Because without the proper folder/files for the different versions of voice, the voices are just passed over like they aren't there at all - not recognized.

No Chas. When LOQ voices are, but the LOQ DLL's are not present in Primo, while the nuance DLL's are, one gets an "unsupported voice" error right at start.
I know. I mixed all iGO and Primo content in 1 shared folder just yesterday.

Primo 2.0 no longer support csv voices, just lua voices, unless you use a sys.txt override. To be able to use csv voices in Primo 2.0, and remove the warning on unsupported voices, put the following on sys.txt :

[sound]
csv_voice_enabled=1

Please note, the earlier Nuance voices released under Primo 1.0 and 1.1 are csv voices. Lua or TTS Pro voices were released only beginning with Primo 1.2

The message "application failed to start last time. Do you want to reset to factory defaults and lose all your pois,tracks and settings?" appears if that is exactly what happened - igo or primo did not start up normally the previous time. If you were able to start Primo normally, and exit from Primo also normally, then this warning message should disappear. I am inclined to think that you don't exit or quit Primo normally, for example, after using primo and reaching your destination, you just completely power off your device (pressing the power button for 10 seconds on some devices will power it off completely). If you didn't exit Primo normally, then the "application failed to start" condition is not reset. You may be right that is stored on the registry, but I don't think you have to mess around with the registry just to reset this condition - just exit from igo or primo normally.

You're kinda right Nabi but I've worked around that error message also. TTS voices will not cause the problem. Kamoteka has it right. I doubt it is being exited properly.

I am working with a Rosen P-11 unit for a F-150 truck. It was made as a direct replacement for the radio. So when I turn the truck off, the GPS just turns off as well. I put the OEM backup Primo back in, which worked perfect until I put Igo8 on, and the error "application failed to start last time" is displayed. I am not sure of any other method of shutting it down.

You must exit the program itself by clicking on the exit icon not just turn off the vehicle.

Where did you get a program without an exit icon in the program itself? It doesn't sound like you got a good download. An exit icon is part of any good download.
