I am searching a DLL pack for Win CE 5

Postby belphegor » Thu Feb 07, 2013 4:40 pm

As explained in other post
"I fitted Garmin navigation software many times without Pb.
But on this MyGuide 4228, I don’t succeed at all.
The starting MortSript script opens “Win CE Explorer” few seconds and it comes back to the starting menu… without opening the garmin.exe.
I tried out several versions without any success.
I always got the “Win CE explorer screen” few seconds."
After many tests (thanks to Fatboyfun for his help), I Came to the conclusion that some WIN CE 5 DLL are missing to run Garmin.
So my question is: does someone know about such a package for WIN CE 5 DLL?
It must exist, so many thanks in advance for any help.

Miopocket contains a full set of dll's and some other stuff, don't be tempted to install it though...

OK fatboyfun, do you meant that it would be hazardous to fit miopocket dll's to the my guide?
But now i am rather sure that the Pb is because WIN CE 5 is uncompleted on this device.
It was OK for "navitotal software" previously installed from factory.
That was also OK for igo8 which works perfectly.
But my daughter would like Garmin.
So here I am.

The dll's within miopocket are real wince dll's, just open the system folder within miopocket, take what you need and place in the Garmin directory where que.exe is, installing miopocket is a gamble and your device is at stake.

This is half the battle, getting Garmin to recognize the GPS hardware will be next...

Might be an idea to slowly introduce your daughter to iGO..?

Well Fatboyfun, I know miopocket since 2007 when I tried to fit it in a digiwalker mio 269+.
This interface is very heavy and upon devices many applications don't run.
So I also tested the "light" versions.A little bit better but not satisfactory upon devices but easier to " customise by removing non working applications.
I use personally and fit to my friends since some years, such a customised "light" version.
The problem to day is to extract its DLL files, many are cab extracting ones, others are here and there without knowledge of the exact usage.
In one word I will stop my investigations and tests.
To answer last question my daughter have currently Igo8 but don't use it any more as she prefers Garmin from her friend.
So, many thanks to you for your support.
Have a great day!

Look in the mioautorun\system folder, all the dll's you could ever want are in there, no extraction required.

use dependency walker to scan que.exe for required resources.
check what's already on the device.
put any missing dll's in the same folder as que.exe

Well Fatboyfun,
For missing DLL its clear that this is the right processing to do.
But today after adding so many dll without success, I guess that some windows files are also missing.
It opens Win explorer few seconds and come back on main screen, some expected resources are missing.
I have an other chines GPS WAYTEQ not any more used with TT/ Garmin and several igo' s variations trough my miopocket light customised menu .
I will clean up all other navigation software's and give her this one with Garmin as she like.
The old one will remain as a spare.
On a 4328 which is the upper model I fitted TT without pb for her brother.
Anyway, I tried, this is the first time i don't succeed to fit what I want.
Never mind.
Many thanks Fatboyfun for your support I appreciated.
Have a great day!

Unfortunately not every software works on every device, tomtom and Garmin are for windows mobile, wm has a full windows ce 5 (wm 5 and above) core underneath, so software like tomtom and Garmin can call resources with no issues, iGO is for wince devices, which can be stripped right back, so iGO includes everything it needs in it's own directory.
