i have found in the back of my cupboard a garmin streetpilot 310
first question can it be updated? new software and maps

second question can tomtom be installed if so could someone point me in the right direction please

Use Garminmapsrouce, and you can easy transfer maps to that device, for updating it's software use garmin webupdater
